Current 2025 Records: Model 22-8 (73%), Me 24-6 (80%)

Richland @ Bishop McCort: McCort -1

On Thursday night on the anniversary of 9/11, the two top teams in the Laurel Highlands will face off in what has potential to be the game of the year. Both teams have been battle tested with tough matchups early in the season. In Week 2, Richland beat Bishop Guilfoyle and McCort beat Bellwood-Antis. Richland has already amassed 1,000 yards this season as an offense, while, McCort has only allowed 13 points in the first 3 weeks. McCort is at home, and with their defense, I am going to take the Crushers.

Bedford @ Penn Cambria: Penn Cambria -23

Penn Cambria lost a heartbreaking game to Forest Hills last week after allowing 10 unanswered points in the last 5 minutes of the game. However, the Panthers QB, Brady Jones still threw for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns. In Week 3, Bedford beat Central Cambria by 1 point in a defensive slug fest where they only gained 117 total yards of offense. The Panthers offense will be hard to stop if they can cut down on the turnovers, so I will take Penn Cambria to win handily.

Clearfield @ Bellefonte: Clearfield -5

Clearfield picked up a very nice win over Philipsburg-Osceola last week 27-15 and outgained an explosive Mounties offense by 106 yards. Clearfield’s Colton Ryan is already at 397 yards rushing on the season and will present a huge challenge for the Red Raiders defense. Bellefonte hung close with powerhouse Bishop Guilfoyle, but was ultimately shutout by the Marauders for their second loss in a row. Bellefonte found success as a defense, however still allowed almost 200 yards rushing. Therefore, I am going to take a very good Clearfield rushing attack to get it done.

Central Cambria @ Greater Johnstown: Greater Johnstown -2

It seems like over the last few years Central Cambria has played in a lot of close games, 5 of their last 12 games have been within one score, and I believe they are in for another close one this week. Central Cambria showed a ton of flashes last week, like RB Ryan Chappell’s 246 yards, but were still unable to get the job done, losing 14-13 to Bedford. Greater Johnstown on the other hand was beat 34-8 by Somerset. The Trojans do have a solid defensive line, allowing only 60 yards rushing last week. Central Cambria has allowed 21 less points than the Trojans so far this season, so I am going to take the Red Devils to win.

Somerset @ Westmont: Somerset -11

Somerset got their first win last week against Johnstown 34-8 but was still outgained by 34 yards. This season Somerset’s QB, Colt Hagans has thrown for 408 yards and 3 touchdowns. In Week 3 the Hilltoppers were blown out by Richland 55-0 in a game where they only gained 107 yards and ended with 4 interceptions. I am going to take Somerset to win by more than 11.

Tyrone @ Bald Eagle: Bald Eagle -5

Tyrone dominated in a matchup of two rivals in Week 3, beating Central 28-6 and forcing 6 turnovers. By this point in the season, Tyrone has now scored 49 points in a game and held two opponents to 6 points, showcasing their versatility in how they can win. Bald Eagle won their first game over rival Penns Valley last week, rushing for 273 yards, led by RB Nick McCulley who rushed for 175 yards. I am going to disagree with the model here and take Tyrone to get the win.

Central @ Bellwood-Antis: Bellwood -12

Central had 6 turnovers and lost their starting QB to injury last week during a loss to Tyrone 28-6. However, the Dragons defense kept them within 14 points until there were 3 minutes left in the game. Bellwood lost an old-school smashmouth game to Huntingdon 7-6, but RB Alex McCartney still had 138 rushing yards. The story of this game will be Central’s front seven against Bellwood’s experienced offensive line. I think it will be difficult to overcome the loss of Central QB Jesse Muthler, and so I will take the Blue Devil’s to win a close game.

Penns Valley @ Philipsburg-Osceola: Philipsburg -16

Penns Valley and Philipsburg both lost last week, to Bald Eagle and Clearfield respectively. Philipsburg, an offense that is characterized as explosive, did not have a single 50 yard rusher in Week 3, while also allowing Clearfield to run for 320 yards. Meanwhile, Penns Valley was held scoreless for the first time this season. Penns Valley is allowing 26.3 points per game, and I think this will allow Philipsburg’s offense to get some chunk plays, ultimately giving the Mounties the win.

Huntingdon @ Bishop Guilfoyle: Bishop Guilfoyle -22

The model is still unsure of Huntingdon, but I am not. Huntingdon proved last week that they can win against good teams, as they beat Bellwood-Antis by 1 point. A very improved Huntingdon defense (38.8 points allowed per game in 2024) has only allowed 8 points per game in their first 3 weeks. Meanwhile, Bishop Guilfoyle beat Bellefonte 7-0 last week, amassing 197 yards rushing, even without their best RB Taurean Consiglio. This is a huge game for both teams, as BG does not want to recieve their second loss of the season, and Huntingdon is looking to continue to roll. I am going to take BG to win this one.
