The LHAC Power Index Week 9 Power Rankings

Tagged under: District 5, District 6, District 9, pfn

| October 22, 2025

Welcome to the LHAC Power Index Week 9 Rankings. Last week, the model had a great week, going 8-2, only missing on Central and Tyrone. That brings its total record to 67-23 (74%) on the season.

We have made it to the end of the LHAC ‘regular’ season and that means it’s crossover time. The week we have been anticipating since last season’s installment is officially here, along with very even matchups. With one week until the playoffs, the stakes couldn’t be any higher.

Shall we see the Week 9 rankings…

Week 9 Takeaways:

  • The two Bishops, McCort and Guilfoyle, took care of business last week in their matchups against top-six teams (Forest Hills and Clearfield, respectively) in dramatic fashion. Both teams were in tight games through the beginning of the fourth before BG scored and won 20-13, and McCort added a stunning 35 points (yes, 35 was not a typo) in the final quarter to beat Forest Hills 73-47. Next week, these two juggernauts will meet at Saint Francis University for the championship, and their game will not disappoint.
  • Forest Hills and Huntingdon are tied in the model at 1,552 ranking points, sitting at fifth and sixth. Both face tough matchups this week, as Huntingdon hosts Richland and Forest Hills travels to Bellwood, but the fireworks will come in the first week of the D6 3A playoffs when these two teams square off. That matchup will be one to watch.
  • Tyrone rises to number nine after they demolished Philipsburg-Osceola in a pivotal matchup, 28-7. That win clinched another playoff berth for the Golden Eagles and eliminated the Mounties. Tyrone will get a sneaky Chestnut Ridge team this week and will travel to Penn Cambria (a Week 8 rematch) for the first round of the District 6 playoffs.
  • Bald Eagle falls two spots to number 11 after a heartbreaking loss in Week 9 to Central. Bald Eagle came back from being down 19-10 and led the game 25-19 entering the final 30 seconds before the Dragons completed a last-ditch Hail Mary pass for a touchdown. They will have another chance to get back to .500 against fellow 4-5 team Central Cambria in the crossover.
  • Central rises one spot to number 14 after an incredible effort in their win against Bald Eagle, 26-25. The Dragons have now won all three of their games in the last 30 seconds, beating Johnstown with 9 seconds left and Penns Valley with 23. While this season has not gone the way Central would have liked, they could end up with a sneakily good record (potentially 4-6) with a win at home over Somerset in crossover week.

Check back tomorrow for the model’s predictions.
