Twitter QuincyPiper_4th Quarter action from Juniata V Troy week 1.

The returning district 4 AA finalists came to play at alparon park Saturday night.

The Trojans forced a three and out on the inaugural Indian drive. And On the ensuing punt sophomore wideout Mason Smith, caught it at his own 35 and followed an army of Trojans all the way to the endzone. Putting his team ahead before two minutes had ticked away. (Seven to nothing 10:01 1).  Juniata Ventured deep into Troy the next drive , before an incompletion and a costly penalty stalled them out at the twenty-eight.  A steady diet of multiple running backs methodically rolling down the field, ended with a 1yd plunge from Kael Millard.( Pat good 14-0). A block in the back on the following kick, put the Indians on their own fifteen. Ehrenzeller dropped back on 2nd down and threw a route over the middle that Ben Warburton stepped under and returned for a 19 yard score.(8:53 2nd 21-0

The Indians wouldn’t go down without a fight however, as on the following drive. Ehrenzeller and Shepps would connect for a TD strike of 77yds.(Pat good 21-7 2nd). The Indians plagued by mistakes, would allow Troy to get down the field almost exclusively via penalties. Capped off by a Clayton Smith Touchdown from ten yards out (28-7 2:20 2nd.) Another turnover on the next drive, would result in Touchdown number five. A 1yd carry from Charlie oloroyd.(PAT converted.

Aided by a 55 yard pass Seth Laub was able to power himself in for the score. (35-13 headed to the break.)

The first Touchdown of the second half, was a 2nd down QB Dive that Evan Woodward took 65 yards for a score .

Shepps would hall down touchdown number two,at the 4:47, and cut the lead to three scores,(Harlon Pat good),

Not for long however as Trojans Clayton Smith took a neaRside pitch , all the way to the end zone to make it 49-21 Troy. (4:30 3rd 50 yard score. The next drive was a consistent passing attack and the precursor to the new Trojans..

From then on the only play of action , is when Kael Millard strolled in from 9.yds. (56-21) 7:434th.

Overall Juniata without a doubt left a lot to be desired, and when I talked to Kurt condo, he said “ We have work to do but against a good football team like this. There were a few upsides.”

I talked to Troy’s head ball coach  Jim Smith after the game. And when I asked him how  he was going to handle team emotions after this win, he said “ It’s simple, we just have to remember next week is a whole new week and we have things to work on from tonight”.

I also had the honor to speak with Clayton smith after the game and he had this too say. “Yea I didn’t get the ball very much but we had multiple people running very well. As long as we play as a team first that’s all that matters.”
