Karns City jumped out to a 7-0 lead on their first drive of the game against Farrell. But that’s as close as they got to the win. The Steelers responded with 3 defensive interceptions by Dorean Cain , a fumble recovery, an 80 yard kick return by Juelz Johnson to go with his 3 other scores and rolled to a 48-20 win. “Juelz Johnson is Juelz Johnson. He’s what you call a true football player. He’s our team leader and he led us tonight” said Farrell head coach Amp Pegues.

Farrell responded to the opening td with a 66 yard drive. Quarterback Aaron Pegues connected with Cain for a 32 yard gain then it was Johnson who finished the drive from 2 yards out.

During the next Gremlin drive, Cain got his first of three interceptions at the Steeler 22 yard line. Peques connected with Cain for 15, then Johnson went up and made a spectacular catch for a 30 yard gain to go with a 12 yard reception during the drive. Jason Marshall II finished the drive with a five yard run. They didn’t get the two pointer leaving the Steelers with a 14-0 lead 3 minutes into the second quarter.

On their next drive the Gremlins were faced with a fourth and long at their 41. Keagan Schrecengost hauled in a pass for a 26 yard gain on a fake punt but the play was negated when Schrecengost didn’t check in as a receiver giving Farrell the ball on the 49. They were forced to punt but on the ensuing KC drive Cain got his second interception. Johnson ran for 22 yards and Pegues connected with Jamauri Jones giving Farrell a 20-7 lead. That was the score at halftime.

The Steelers and Johnson wasted no time to start the second half. Johnson took swing pass from Pegues, made a move and dashed to the endzone putting Farrell up 26-7.

Karns City scored on their next possession to close within 26-13 but on the kickoff Johnson turned on the afterburners and raced 80 yards to the endzone. Farrell got a safety on the next KC drive then pulled away for the win.

“Our guys, we knew it was going to be rough but I told my guys we have to stick together and that’s what we did” said Johnson of his teams play. “I told my guys we gotta attack the ball and go get it”.

Farrell with face the winner of tonight’s game between Bishop McCort and Richland next week.
