The Seton LaSalle Rebels advanced to the WPIAL 2A Championship Game with a 27-19 win over the Washington Little Prexies last night. Wash High fumbled on three straight drives in the 4th quarter to help Seton LaSalle walk away victorious.
Washington scored on the game’s first possession, as senior quarterback Tristan Reed ran it in from six yards out. Seton LaSalle wasted no time responding, scoring in two plays. Both plays were handoffs to sophomore running back Kymarr Freeman.
The next two touchdowns were scored by Washington, but they missed an extra point and failed a 2-point conversion. Reed found sophomore wide receiver Ameer Nelson for a 40-yard touchdown with a minute and a half left in the first quarter. Junior running back Jamarie Walker took a delayed handoff into the end zone early in the second quarter to make it 19-7.
Seton LaSalle answered with a touchdown run by junior running back Deondre Hill, but the extra point was blocked. They then recovered the ensuing kickoff. It was the first of four fumbles lost in the game for Washington.
Washington did stop Seton LaSalle on fourth-and-goal to close out the first half, but Seton LaSalle got the ball to begin the second half. As a matter of fact, they possessed the ball for over 16 minutes straight: the final nine minutes of the second quarter and the first 7 1/2 minutes of the third quarter.
On that seven-and-a-half minute drive, junior Will Martin punched it in from a yard out to give Seton LaSalle a 20-19 lead, one they would never give up.
Washington fumbled on the second play of the fourth quarter deep in Seton LaSalle territory. After forcing a Seton LaSalle punt, Washington fumbled again in enemy territory, this time with under five minutes left in the game.
After stopping two straight run plays, Washington was caught off guard by a deep ball from quarterback Kia Jones to senior tight end Aaron Lorrits, which resulted in an 80-yard touchdown to put Seton LaSalle up by eight.

On Washington’s next drive, they fumbled on the second play.
The Wash High defense forced a punt with just over a minute left, giving the ball back to the offense, but Seton LaSalle junior defensive back Mi’Joir Reid broke up a Hail Mary to end the game.
