Steven Halloran plays every snap thinking of his late father. The senior played one of the best games of his career.  He forced and recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter that gave the Cougars all the momentum they needed to knock off the Comets.

The Cougars knew they needed to start fast. They did just that going 70 yards in 9 plays before the drive was capped when Preston Reed took it in from 1 yard out on fourth down to give the Cougars a 7-0 lead with 7:50 to play in the first.

The Comets would score on their second drive off the game as an interception by Mason Fedor set up the Comets inside the 30. Kevin Schmidt would take a handoff 25 yards to the house tying the score at 7 a piece with 3:54 left in the first quarter.

Deja Vu struck for the Cougars.  Declan Walsh intercepted Dom Memo’s pass, and 2 plays later the Comets found the endzone when Nick Bradley hit tight end Cayd Sespico from 23 yards out to give the Comets a 14-7 lead with 9:23 remaining in the half.

Both defenses battled back and forth in the third quarter before the Cougars mounted a 9-play-45-yard drive to tie the game at 14-14.  The drive was capped off when Zack Cwalinski took it in from 3 yards out.

The Cougar’s defense would once again force a 3-and-out.  The offense proceeded to march 58 yards in 7 plays, capped off by Zach Cwalinski once again taking it in from 4 yards out giving the Cougars a 21-14 lead with 58 seconds left in the quarter.

Scot Wasilchak’s defense continued to shine and the ground attack only got better as Nick Kuckarski ran it in from 24 yards out giving the Cougars a 28-14 lead with 6:50 left in the game.

On the first play of the ensuing drive, Steven Halloran tackled Nick Bradley on a QB run forcing a fumble and recovering it setting up the Cougars for their next score just a minute and thirty seconds later.

Camryn Higgins who was dominant on the ground all day long finally found the endzone with 5:19 left giving the Cougars a 35-14  victory.
