Week 1 Southern Lehigh v Quakertown Video Recap by PAFootball Newsdotcom

Southern Lehigh compiled over 500 yards of offense in their 35-14 victory over Quakertown.

Early on, the teams exchanegd turnovers, as Brady Martin stalled a Spartans drive on the 9-yard line. Later in the first, a ball thrown by Martin was intercepted by Otto Young. Sean Steckert would cap that drive with a 2-yard touchdown to make it 7-0 Southern Lehigh with nine minutes left in the opening stanza.

Colton Sams would be the second prong in the Southern Lehigh attack. He hit Luke Kawczenski for 35 yards, setting up a 1-yard TD run for Steckert. That made the score 14-0 with nine minutes left in the opening half.

Later in the second quarter, Sams hit Otto Young for 35 yards and then found Kawczenski in the front corner of the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown catch.  Kyler Roesener responded with a 2-yard touchdown run for the Panthers to make the score 21-7 late in the half.

Steckert ran hard all night, finishing with over 200 yards and totaling four touchdowns. His third score was setup by his 10-yard run, allowing him to go in from a yard out. That increased the lead to 28-7 with 5:46 in the third.

His fourth and final touchdown run came from six yards out and was the final nail in the coffin.

The Southern Lehigh line dominated on both sides, holding Quakertown to six three-and-outs and two turnovers, one on downs.

Southern Lehigh will look to continue their momentum next week against Blue Mountain, while Quakertown looks to bounce back against Pennsbury.
