Washington beats McGuffey to move on to the 2A semifinals.

Washington came into the game after beating Ellwood City last week.  Mcguffey came into the after beating Derry last week.

Washington received the ball to start the game.  After a 3 and out and a bad Washington punt Mcguffey got the ball but missed a field goal so they could not do anything with the good starting field position.   The rest of the first quarter went back and forth with both teams punting the ball back to the other.  At the end of the first quarter, it was 0-0.

In the second quarter, both teams had a fumble and punted more in the second quarter.  The first score of the game did not come until 2:45 left in the first half with an Elijah Thomas rushing touchdown the 2-point conversion was no good to make it 6-0.

It was 6-0 Washington at halftime.  The second half started out the same way as the first half with trading punts back and forth.   Then with 4 minutes left in third quarter Washington intercepted a pass. The score at the end of the third quarter was 6-0.  After the interception Washington had a rushing touchdown with 11:15 left in the game to extend their lead to 12-0.  After some huge fourth down stops and wasting most of the fourth quarter Washington had another rushing touchdown to extend their lead to 18-0.

At the end of the game with four seconds left Mcguffey scored their first touchdown of the game it was a rushing touchdown by Charles Wagers.

The final score was 18-7 Washington.  McGuffey’s season is over after losing to Washington.  Washington Will go on to play beaver falls next week in the 2A semifinals to play in the WPIAL championship at Acrisure stadium.
