A strong rushing attack propelled the Washington Little Prexies to a 35-14 win over the Waynesburg Central Raiders last night.

Washington quarterback, senior Tristan Reed, scored three first half rushing touchdowns.

His first, a 1-yard quarterback sneak, was set up thanks to an interception from sophomore defensive back, Ameer Nelsen, on what was Waynesburg Central quarterback Teagen Crouse’s only first half incompletion.

After forcing a punt, Washington marched down the field, capped off by Reed’s second touchdown, a 15-yard designed run to put Washington up, 14-0, midway through the second quarter.

Waynesburg Central responded with a 37-yard catch and run touchdown by senior wideout Daniel Brookover, but left Washington too much time to score a touchdown of their own before the end of the half. Reed found senior wide receiver Caleb Patton to give Washington first-and-goal, and Reed punched it in himself a few plays later.

Washington started with the ball in the third quarter, a quarter in which each team had just one drive from start to finish. Washington’s ended in a 13-yard touchdown run from senior Jahvon Woods, making it 28-7. Waynesburg Central was not so lucky, failing to convert on fourth-and-goal after a few stops in a row from Washington sophomore Blaise Naraskivitch.

After the defensive stand, Washington completed a 94-yard drive when Woods broke free for a 42-yard touchdown run, his second of the game.

90 seconds later, Crouse threw his second touchdown pass of the game, this one to senior Jeffrey Blair, getting Waynesburg Central back on the board.

With a minute and a half left in the game, Washington did something they had yet to do; they failed to convert on third down. Up to that point, they were a perfect 12-for-12 on third down conversions. Reed pooch punted on fourth down with no one back deep for Waynesburg Central, and the game ended after three plays of offense from Waynesburg Central.

Washington, now 3-1, hosts Sto-Rox next week. Waynesburg Central fell to 2-2 and will host Steel Valley.
