Week 2 – Greater Johnstown at Central Game Preview

Tagged under: District 6, Gameday Hub, News, pfn

| August 28, 2025

The Central Scarlett Dragons will open at home against The Greater Johnstown Trojans on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 7 PM. Both teams are looking for their first win of the season, as Central is coming off of a 24-point loss to Philipsburg-Osceola, while Johnstown suffered a 27-6 loss to Chestnut Ridge.

The Trojans had a tough time getting their offense going in Week 1, accumulating only 98 yards of offense, partly due to their two interceptions in the second half. Between QB Ranson Goggans and RB Cordell Porter, Johnstown will have to find the end zone to stay competitive with Central, as the offense was held scoreless last week. The bright spot for the Trojans was the defense, which scored the team’s only points of the game, on a fumble recovery in the endzone for Cordell Porter near the end of the game. Defensive linemen Jameer Dy will also be a factor, accumulating 17 tackles and a sack against Chestnut Ridge.

The Dragon’s young offense had a very inconsistent game, but showed some promise. Sophomore QB Jesse Muthler threw for 234 yards and a touchdown, while ATH Carter Schenk had 2 rushing touchdowns and a 66 yard touchdown reception. On defense, LB Coltin Harbaugh had 11 tackles, while DE Jett Butler had the lone TFL of the evening.

3 Stats to Know:

  • 98 Yards – Johnstown’s total yards of offense from Week 1
  • 234 Yards – Central’s Passing Yards Week 1
  • 24-3 – Central’s home record since 2020
