The Owls are a team that have had seemingly no success that past couple years, including going winless in 2022, 2019, 2017, and 2010. Their last winning season came back in 2005 where they went 5-4. This year is a different story for the Owls though, as head coach Jake Weaver seems to have them trending in the right direction, currently sitting at 7-0 and in second place in the Philadelphia Public Liberty Conference. The only team that sits above the Owls? The Audenried Charter Rockets, who believe it or not are in their first season as a football program. In their first year, head coach Roy-Al Edwards has the Rockets sitting at 5-2 with their only losses coming on the road to Cardinal O’Hara and Chichester in the first two weeks of the season. Both of these teams have had strong performances by their rushing attacks. For the Owls, senior running back Ahmir Ponder has rushed for 1,207 yards and 7 touchdowns on the year, while for the Rockets, sophomore running back Sa’Deer Thorton is currently averaging just over 100 yards a game as well 5 touchdowns. This game should be a close contest, however I do believe the Owls will get the victory in this one and move to 8-0 on the year.

11/7/15 – West Catholic (46) @ (0) Neumann-Goretti
West Catholic currently sits at 4-2, their losses being a two point road loss to Dover (DE) and a six point road loss to Lansdale Catholic. Leading the way offensively is junior quarterback Josiah Everett who has thrown for 1,210 yards and 15 touchdowns, as well as their senior running back Angelo Rossi who has 451 rushing yards as well as 110 receiving yards and 5 overall touchdowns. Neumann-Goretti comes into the matchup with a 4-3 record, with losses to Pope John Paul, Archbishop Ryan, and Lansdale Catholic. They have had to rotate quarterbacks this season after sophomore quarterback Shane Salley went down with a season ending injury. Sophomore Jack Garrett led the way in weeks 2-4, while freshman Marquis Coleman led the way the past two weeks. Makhi Mitchell is their leading rusher currently with 494 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns. West Catholic hasn’t beaten Neumann-Goretti since 2018, but this time around I believe they have a very good shot to, especially considering the instability the Saints have had at the quarterback position.

The Raptors are located in District 11, however since they are independent from a conference, they don’t play any teams from their district. They also have been basically a black and white team this year, beating all the bad teams on their schedule, and losing to all the good ones. The combined records of the teams they’ve beaten is 3-18, while the combined record of the teams they’ve lost to is 17-3. Two of those losses were by only by one score, the first game of the season they only lost by two points to undefeated Belmont Charter. On the other side, the Firebirds lost to two quality teams to start the year in Lansdale Catholic and Bishop Shanahan, but since then have been rolling with five consecutive wins, four of them being by three or more scores. This is the first time these two teams have ever played against each other, and given how the Raptors have played against winning teams this year, I think the Firebirds should be able to handle this game and get their sixth consecutive victory.
