Wildcat defense gets three interceptions and the win over Lancaster Catholic

The Wildcat defense held Lancaster Catholic to under 200 yards, most of which came in the second half, and their offense got big plays from senior Teegan Carroll to lead Halifax to a 30-14 playoff win.

On the opening drive of the game the Wildcats 19 but turnedthe ball over on downs. Two plays later Joey Whitmer picked off a Rowan DeMarco pass and raced 30 yards to the endzone putting the ‘Cats up 7-0.

The Halifax defense swarmed all night long but neither offense was able to mount much of a charge. Brayden Midile recovered a fumble, the picked off DeMarco at the Crusader 44. Teegan Carroll needed just two plays. He raced 44 yards to the two then went in from the two to put Halifax up 14-0 midway through the second quarter.

 

Following a Crusader punt that was partially blocked, Halifax got a 31 yard field goal just before the halftime break to take a 17-0 lead.  On their second drive in the third quarter the Crusader offense started picking up chunks of yards. They finally found paydirt when Brandon Way ran into the endzone from five yards out closing the gap to 17-7 but on the fourth play of the next Wildcat drive Carroll broke loose for a 55 yard jaunt to put the home team up 24-7.

Way scored again to make it a 24-14 game then Halifax quarterback Cohen Bechtel sealed the game with a td run of his own.

Halifax will play Steelton Highspire next week for the District 3 Class 2A crown
