When David meets Goliath, he may not have met Matthew Wyatt. The Wilson Bulldogs blew out the J.P. McCaskey Red Tornado 56-0 in an L-L Conference game, spoiling McCaskey’s homecoming night.

This one for the Red Tornado was a curse from the start. McCaskey started with possession looking to set the tone but did not capitalize after a near lost fumble from McCaskey Senior Quarterback Liam Stinchfield. Wilson quickly responded in just two plays, courtesy of a gritty touchdown run by Bulldogs Senior Quarterback Mason Young, making it 7-0.

The next drive was a clear representation of ‘When it Rains, It Pours. Liam Stinchfield was caught being greedy and picked off for a touchdown caught and house-called by Sophomore Matthew Wyatt. The skies only continued to get darker for the Red Tornado. Liam Stinchfield had lost the ball again, this time scoop and scored by Junior Michael Glover for the Bulldogs. Maximizing possessions was the key and the Wilson Bulldogs dominated in all phases.

With them finally being on offense, Senior Jaiden Carpenter made the Red Tornado pay for lacking offensive effieciency.  Matthew Wyatt was not done yet, adding yet another scoop and score and stretching the Bulldogs lead to 35-0. Following Matthew’s defensive display, Bulldogs Senior Correll Akings decided to have fun of his own, cashing in for a solid run to make it a 42-0 game in just the 2nd quarter closing out the half.

The halfway point failed to define the Red Tornado as a 2nd half team. At this point, the Wilson Bulldogs had entered some Junior Varsity players. Things started in the final 24 minutes with McCaskey Senior Quinnes Jones Hawkins throwing an interception leading to a Bulldogs touchdown rush from Freshman Jaiden Whitehurst, extending their lead to 49-0. Then, after a J.P McCaskey turnover on downs in their last attempt for points on their special night, the Bulldogs put a muzzle on the ‘Dawg Pound after a final touchdown pass to Sophomore Madden Knarr to overpower the Red Tornado.

J.P McCaskey Red Tornado have now fallen to 0-9 and on the brink of a winless season with a new coaching staff. They’re 0-4 within the Lancaster-Lebanon Conference standings as well. For one last push in the win column, McCaskey faces a much more even matchup in the Penn Manor Comets, who is 2-7 on the season and 1-4 in the Lancaster-Lebanon Conference. The Red Tornado will be on the road at Penn Manor next Friday(10/24) at 7:00PM for a final chance at victory after an ugly loss against a top team in the PIAA.

The Wilson Bulldogs, however, are sitting atop a good bit of the District 3 rankings being 8-1 on the season and tied for 1st(5-0) with the Manheim Blue Streaks in the Lancaster-Lebanon Conference. The Bulldogs will be set to break the tiebreaker with the Blue Streaks on who will be crowned the Lancaster Lebanon Conference winner this year.
