Pine-Richland’s football stadium will host this year’s WPIAL championship games for the 6A and 4A sections, the league announced Tuesday. The location change comes due to previous host Norwin having construction at their stadium, making it unusable in November.
The two stadiums are approximately 40 miles from each other, with Norwin being southeast of Pittsburgh and Pine-Richland directly north of the city. Both have similar seating capacities, Norwin expanding from 5,000 seats to 6,000 and Pine-Richland having 5,790 seats as of 2021.
Pine-Richland is a 5A school, meaning they will not have the chance of a home championship. If they were to make a third consecutive appearance, they would be at Acrisure Stadium November 22nd, along with the 3A, 2A, and 1A championship games. The 6A and 4A games will be played on November 15th.
