Desmond Ortiz commits to Brown
Desmond Ortiz, a skilled 5 ‘9 running back is headed to play for Coach James Perry at Brown University. The 2026 back is a standout playmaker on a loaded La Salle roster. In his junior season Ortiz rushed 85 times for 403 yards and also caught 21 passes for 231 yards. He totaled 7 touchdowns which was good enough to make the All Catholic 2nd team. Ortiz is a very skilled pass catching running back who caught the 2-point conversion to beat St. Joseph’s Prep in a thriller last year. Brown is getting an elusive running back who will provide the team with electric plays as soon as he steps on the field.
Ortiz had tons of interest from Ivy League schools. He visited Harvard, Stonybrook, and Yale but ultimately came to a decision of Brown. In his senior year Ortiz and his stacked La Salle offense will look to win another PCL championship and this time come out on top in the state championship.
