The 2020 Laurens First and Goal camp was held on Sunday at Lafayette and it didn’t disappoint. It drew the largest number to date and ironically the number was 2,020 athletes. Lauren’s First and Goal is a non-profit organization, a labor of love started in 2004 by John and Marianne Loose in honor of their daughter, Lauren, a pediatric brain tumor survivor. Since its inception, LFG has raised over 2 million dollars toward its mission to provide financial support for brain tumor research and cancer services, to offer financial and emotional support to families living with pediatric cancer, and to increase awareness of the disease. At yesterdays event alone over $150,ooo was raised. Players from 446 high schools representing 17 states PLUS Germany, Austria and Mexico were in attendance. There were over 300 college coaches in attendance to help train all those athletes.
