One of the best athletes in Philly’s class of 2023 has made his college choice, and it’s a P5 school for him. The talented 6-3, 240 pound defensive end will take his talents to Boston College. Jayzen Flint helped lead West Catholic on a deep playoff run in 2022 and would like to continue that trend this year, but first he had to get something out of the way: “I knew it was time. I couldn’t hold it in for any longer. BC felt like home and I was comfortable with the players and coaches. I knew it’s was where I was supposed to be”.

Boston College Defensive line Vince Oghobaase recruited Jayzen. “Coach Vince, he was showing me the important keys of his Dline and what he expect out of his players. He showed how he would put me into the game plan of the Dline. He also told me what he liked about my game and how it would fit in with the team. He pulled my film and broke down my game in front of me which was mind blowing. It showed he really paid attention to my game play and why I was being recruited by him”.

What is BC getting in player like Jayzen? He says “HEART! Don’t quit, always wants to be the best. DIFFERENT ! I just want to win and make a difference for the team. My high school football record going into my senior year is 10-31. But I didn’t quit and still strives for greatness.  I love the game of football. Football made me the person I am today. “.

Flint said the recruiting process was a Blessing.  “I didn’t expect to be in this position 12 years ago. I sacrificed a lot to be in this position and I am grateful Allah created a path for me and guided to “Greatness”. I am Extremely blessed, but the job is not finished”.

Jayzen says he’d like to study engineering when he gets to BC and is looking forward to learning a new culture, something different from what he sees around Philly. “I’m excited to become a family member with the team”.

On the role his parents played in his decision:  “A HUGE role ! Appreciate everything they have done for me throughout my whole football career. My Dad, he is my biggest supporter. It’s never a day where he doesn’t bring up my career or just football in general. He invested a lot into my career because he seen the bigger picture. That’s my Dawg without him I wouldn’t be in this position right now.

PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school teammates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?

“GO BE GREAT!!! Make a Difference no matter what sport or activity you do. Always work to be the best. You are going to have to sacrifice things like Parties/ Hanging out with your friends to get to where you want to be. Keep God/ Allah what ever you believe in. Keep them in your life they are going to guild you and protect you throughout you whole journey. “IF I CAN DO IT YOU CAN DO IT” I am extremely blessed to be in this position. I appreciate everybody’s support and guidance throughout my whole journey of recruitment. This only the Beginning!! #GoEagles”
