Ringgold dominated from the opening quarter on, rolling to a 46-7 win over South Park on Friday night, improving to 2-3 on the season while dropping the Eagles to 1-4.
The Rams got on the board first when Nicholas Stasko punched it in from 2 yards out, making the score 7-0 after a successful PAT. From there, Ringgold’s defense took over. A forced fumble set up Dennis Hawkins going up and over a defender for an 80-yard touchdown, pushing the lead to 14-0.
Ringgold kept generating turnovers, and kept cashing them in. Another fumble recovery led to a 6-yard touchdown run from Cristian Lowther, making it 21-0, and a third takeaway set up a 9-yard touchdown screen to Demetri Lowe, making the score 28-0 after a successful PAT.
South Park couldn’t find any answers before the half, and Ringgold added one more before the break. Dennis Hawkins turned a short catch into a 59-yard touchdown with just seconds remaining in the second quarter, and although the PAT attempt was fumbled away, Ringgold took a commanding 34-0 lead into halftime.
South Park got its lone bright spot of the night to open the third quarter, recovering a fumbled Ringgold punt in the end zone for a touchdown, cutting the deficit to 34-7 after a successful kick. But Ringgold answered right back. A 43-yard run from Lowther set up a 22-yard touchdown run from Stasko, making it 40-7 after a failed 2-point try.
Lowther capped the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 23-yard touchdown run, making the final 46-7.
Ringgold returns to action October 2 on the road against Laurel Highlands, while South Park looks to bounce back at home against West Mifflin the same night.
