This afternoon I made my first trip to Briggs high school in Columbus, Ohio to watch Briggs battle, Linden McKinley.
The stadium is a very old school, but a pleasant place to have caught A-game. I could not find complete rosters for either team and when I asked in the press box nobody had A roster, so there will be numbers only for some of the players.

The defense was the name of the game for most of this one and this showed in A large way, when #21 for Linden picked off A pass thrown by #9 Tajh Bowers, just 1:27 seconds into the contest. Linden looked to have capitalized on the interception when #12 connect with #11 for A 15- yard touchdown but Ahold negated the score. Monty Peterson made the Panthers pay for that mistake when he picked off A pass A little over A minute later to give the Bruins the ball. Peterson would be hit and dropped for a 7-yard loss by #20 of the Panthers. The last play of the quarter that sticks out to me came when Briggs got A nice catch from Mykeal Daniels for 14-yards but it was not enough to move the chains turning the ball over to the Panthers.

#12 for the Panthers pulled off A very aggressive 23-yard run to give the offense A little momentum, with 11:29 left in the half. Nothing more came from the drive and both defenses remained king for most of the quarter. With 3:14 left #22 of the Bruins picked of A Panthers pass  allowing his offense another shot to score before the half ended. Daniels picked up 16-yards with a nice catch and run. Robert Westmoreland III would make a nice tackle on Bowers holding the slippery runner to 6-yards. David Downs III would light up the scoreboard on A nice looking 20-yard run. The P.A.T. by #14 was wide left leaving this A 6-0 game, with 1:05 showing on the clock. #55 for Briggs would put #12 down for A 4-yard loss, then to end the half #55 would get to #12 holding him to A slim gain.

The third quarter started the way the 2nd one ended, with #55 stopping #12 for A 10-yard loss. #55 for Briggs had A fine game on the defensive side of the ball. At the 7:19 mark of the third quarter, Gene Sutton III and Travon Miller teamed up to sack the Bruins Bowers to bring up A 4th and fourteen. After getting the ball back #21 for the Panthers made A nice little catch and picked up close to 65 yards before being brought down. #2 for the Panthers locked this one up at six, on A 1-yard score, with 4:49 left in the quarter. Downs. who was the workhorse on the next Bruins drive picked up 14-yards, only to see Jae’ Von Thomas put the ball on the ground and picking it up was #61 of the Panthers, with 2:20 left. The Panthers offense got A long pass to #11 that took the ball to the Bruins 1-yard line, from there #12 ended the 60-yard drive with his 1-yard touchdown run. Yasmire Smith picked off the two-point conversion pass leaving this A 12-6 game, with 1:45 showing on the clock. In the final 1:08 of the quarter #15 for the Panthers stuffed Bowers for a 4-yard loss and then Bowers connected with Daniels for A 51-yard gain.

To start the fourth and final quarter Bowers found 12-yards with his feet and then he connected with Daniels for A 7-yard score.
Te P.A.T. would make this A 13-12 game, with the Bruins leading. 24 seconds later the Panthers retook the lead when #12 found #15 for A 82-yard touchdown. #3 converted the two-point conversion on A run to make this A 20-13 game. Yasmire Smith made a diving catch to give the Bruins The first down but the drive ended soon after when A bad snap on A punt would cause Kevin Bosque to try and run for the first and he was well short thanks to A nice tackle from #2 of the Panthers. Bowers would find Smith, who made A leaping catch to move the chains for the Bruins. Downs would avoid being tackled several times on his way to A 26-yard pick-up, that took the ball to the Panthers 10-yard line, with 2″16 left. The Bruins picked The first down up, when facing A fourth and two, when the Panthers jumped offside, from there Bowers found pay dirt from 2-yards out. Down electrified, the home crowd, when he used some fine work from his linemen to convert the two-point try making this a 21-20 game, with 36.7 seconds left. The Panthers though refused to quit and with 11:7 seconds left they got A 45-yard leaping catch from #11 that placed the ball on the Bruins five-yard line. After spiking the ball, the Panthers had time for one last play that would see #12 scramble around and then be sacked by A host of Bruins to preserve the one-point win.
