I used google maps to get me to Rowan County high school in Morehead, Kentucky and it opted to take me down every back road possible to get me there. This was my first trip there and though Mother Nature made like Covid and ended the evening very early. There were to be two grid games with Fleming playing Nicholas in game one and then the home school Rowan County hosting Bath County. What actually took place was one half of football with Fleming County using a 35-yard touchdown catch from a wide-open Logan Pinkley for the only score in this shortened game.  Fleming for the most part never got much going on offense other than the long touchdown play. I did like the work from their offensive line. On the defensive side of the ball, they might not have been in mid-season form but they did show promise of being very, very sound on that side of the ball.

Nicholas County’s biggest highlight was a fumble recovery from Noah Hawkins. Their defense seemed to bend but not break most of this one with the lone exception being the long touchdown pass they gave up. There were times in this one they looked lost and tired, then there were times I would guess made the coaching staff very excited. On offense, they would show a few different formations with the wishbone being a nice wrinkle. Tate Letcher, their quarterback looked very sound running the ball, and when he had time to throw he did show hope of a nice short passing game as another weapon.

Note: This was a neutral site game.

Note: For the player’s name I used the incomplete rosters on HUDL.
