Why do you play football?

I play football because it is the ultimate team sport. I love working with my teammates to overcome challenges and accomplish goals.

What are your thoughts on last season?

Last season was the most fun I have ever had playing football. Making the jump from playing JV as a freshman to starting on varsity as sophomore was a challenge that made me a better player and person. All of my teammates were there for me every step of the way. I felt extremely lucky to be a part of the Vikings offensive line last season. It was special to help contribute to Kyle Cichanowsky’s memorable 2,000 yard season.

How have you been preparing for the upcoming season during the pandemic?

To prepare for the upcoming season, I have been working with my dad to develop workouts that can be done every day. We feel that all of the exercises are both challenging and beneficial. Some of the exercises include the agility ladder, box jumps, car pushes, planks, pushups, tire flips, and wind sprints.

What are your expectations for the team this year?

My expectations for the team this year is to win the “Battle of the West Chesters” and the ChesMont. If we take care of that in the regular season, it will position us well for the postseason.

What are your personal expectations for this year?

This season, I want to improve my skills and technique as an offensive lineman. I am hoping that all of the work put in during the offseason will land me a spot on first-team all league and state. Additionally, off the field I would like to become a better leader.

Describe the atmosphere during a home game.

The atmosphere during a home game at West Chester East is incredible. The amped up student section mixed with the band makes me feel like I could play all night. It is special to know that the entire community is there cheering us on.

How do you support the other sports teams at your school?

I support all of the teams at West Chester East. If I am not on the sidelines with the team, I am in the stands supporting them with my friends.

Explain what your teammates mean to you.

My teammates mean the world to me. They make long practices bearable and push me to do my best on every single play. In football, eleven players are on the field at a time. However, it takes the entire roster to help push each other and ultimately win games.

Describe the relationship between you and your head coach.

Coach Stephen has a great relationship with me and my family. He has helped me grow as a football player and a young man. Coach has played a crucial role in my college recruitment process. I am thankful that he is a part of my life.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

My favorite athlete is the Tennessee Titans left tackle, Taylor Lewan. He plays with an edge and gives all he has on every single play. It is not all about pancake blocks and putting defenders on their back. The goal as an offensive lineman is to do enough on each play to spring your running back or give the quarterback enough time to throw.

What is your favorite sports movie and why?

My favorite sports movie is “Remember the Titans”. This movie is an accurate portrayal of how football can bring any group of people together to work for a common goal.

When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?

When I am not doing anything related to sports, I am usually outside hanging out with my family. Additionally, I like to stay connected with friends through video games.
