Corry Beavers
2022 Season – 4-7
Head Coach – Jeff Goodwill
Key Players Lost – Ethyn Allen, Andrew Kuzma, Cole Nickerson
Key Players Returning – Mason Savitz, Rylan Smith, Nolan Carey, Levi Ehrhart
What to Expect – Corry will look to make another run at the district title after falling to Meadville last year. The Beavers bring back starting quarterback Nolan Carey, tailback Mason Savitz and leading tackler Levi Ehrhart.
Fairview Tigers
Head Coach – Mark Sobeleski
2022 Season – 5-6
Key Players Lost – Tyler Corbin, Charles Chevalier, Jared Gennuso, Jeremy Frazao, Jake Stalzitz
Key Players Returning – Jacob Truitt, Vincent Campoli, Josh Lockett, Robbie Chevalier
What to Expect – Fairview must replace their starting quarterback Tyler Corbin and their two top tailbacks, Charles Chevalier and Jared Gennuso. Jacob Truitt returns having rushed for 227 yards in 2022. Truitt, Josh Lockett, Robbie Chevalier, and Vincent Campoli return on defense for the Tigers after combing for 305 tackles last season.
Fort LeBoeuf Bison
Head Coach – Jeff Nichols
2022 Season – 7-4
Key Players Lost – Caeleb Stover, Justin Leuschen, Isaac McGuire
Key Players Returning – Aiden Lesik, Jace Wallace, Connor McChesney, Ryan Welka, Damian Blose
What to Expect – The Bison need to replace the nearly 1400 yards Justin Leuschen gave them last season. However, underclassman Connor McChesney, Aiden Lesik, and Ryan Welka combined to rush for over 1200 yards in 2022. Lesik and Jace Wallace led Fort LeBoeuf in tackles and will again lead the Bison defense heading into the new season.
General McLane Lancers
Head Coach – Marshall McCormick
2022 Season – 9-2
Key Players Lost – Dylan Sheeder, Owen Martin, Kyle Birkmire, Kyle Cousins, Dillon Mayer, Landon Laskey
Key Players Returning – Ian Salisbury, Magnus Lloyd
What to Expect – The defending Region 5 champions have a lot of All-Region players to replace heading into 2023. One of whom is starting quarterback Dylan Sheeder, who accounted for over 2000 yards of offense and 24 touchdowns. Magnus Lloyd and Ian Salisbury combined for 98 tackles last season, while Lloyd also rushed for 183 yards – both will look to lead the Lancers in 2023.
Girard Yellowjackets
Head Coach – Bill McNally
2022 Season – 2-7
Key Players Lost – Jeremiah Colon, Gunner Bax , Ashton Koppes, Gabe Messmer, Zach Lowe,
Key Players Returning – Carson Stevens, Jeremiah Colon, Derek Robinson, James Kibbe, Tyler Mayes, Jamionn Flagella, Kolton Miller
What to Expect – The Yellowjackets will have to look to it’s veteran line to keep things in place while the skill players develop.
Harbor Creek Huskies
Head Coach – Troy Budziszewski
2022 Season – 2-8
Key Players Lost – Nick Krahe, Sam Brady, Josh Lewis, Dylan Chwatek, Joe Hulse
Key Players Returning – Heath Betza, Lance Brown, C.J. Pius, Ethan McAdoo
What to Expect – Harbor Creek will look to improve on their 2-8 record from 2022. The Huskies will have to replace West Virginia recruit Nick Krahe. Krahe, Dylan Chwatek, Josh Lewis, and Sam Brady combined for 242 tackles in 2022. As a sophomore, Harbor Creek returns quarterback Heath Betza, who passed for nearly 1000 yards. Leading tailback Lance Brown also returns after rushing for over 600 yards and leading the team in the tackles last season.
North East Grape Pickers
Head Coach – Jovon Johnson
2022 Season – 2-8
Key Players Lost – Zane Strong
Key Players Returning – Landon Kelly, Jamari Curlett, Carter Crozier, Jackson Humes, Jacob Babo, Demetris Crosby
What to Expect – North East returns nearly everyone in 2023, so they’ll almost certainly improve from their 2-8 record in 2022. The Grape Pickers return quarterback Jackson Humes who accounted for nearly 2000 yards and 20 touchdowns last season – along with two freshmen in Carter Crozier and Demetris Crosby. Crozier totaled 31 sacks while Crosby rushed for 263 yards and four scores – the two will play a key role for North East in 2023
