In a game that featured 19 first half penalties, 3 defensive touchdowns, multiple big offensive plays, the strangest thing of all was the back to back forth and goal form the minus 20 (4th and 80) followed by a forth and 46 from the plus 47. Although Lincoln High’s defensive bus didn’t find the South Philly Supersite until about 25 minutes before kickoff, it didn’t take long for the defense to put it’s stamp on the game. On the second play of the game Lincoln’s cornerback Cordell Popular jumped a South Philly pass, then darted 27 yards to the end zone, after the 2 point conversion was good Lincoln led 8-0.

The Southern Rams then took the kickoff, marched to the 48 yard line. On forth and two, the Lincoln defense stiffed stopping the Rams. On second down Railsplitter’s QB Khani Knight completed a long pass to the Ram’s 6 yard line, then things got weird. After the Rams defense, led by C.J. Miller, Semaj Fripps and Ali Sharif, broke through the line to cause a couple of big loses, mix in two penalties, the Railsplitters faced a third and goal from the 35. Knight then dropped back to pass as the Ram’s defensive line broke through Knight retreated being chased by the Ram’s defense, he then threw the ball away and was flagged for intentional grounding. That brought up forth and goal to go from their own 20. After the punt Southern drove the ball to the 11 yard line, seemingly ready to punch it in to tie the game up. After 3 consecutive false starts, three sacks, the Ram’s faced a forth and 46 from the Lincoln 47. Lincoln took over on downs, on the next play Xavier Irrzary raced 60 yards giving Lincoln a 16-0 advantage.

The defenses took over from there, with Lincoln forcing a three and out and Southern intercepting a ball deep in their own territory. It looked like the Ram’s would run out the clock in the first half, but once again the Lincoln defense forced a fumble and Jayson Dawkins scooped it up for Lincoln’s third score.

The second half belonged to the Railsplitters, they took the kickoff drove the field with Koyel Simmons-Green pounding in from the 5. After holding the Rams to a three and out, Roling Davis took the ball around the corner on a sweep covering 42 yards to make the score 36-0, from there the running clock started and the substitutes for the Rams entered the game. For some reason Lincoln chose to keep the majority of their starters in the game. Knight completed a pass to Davis to make the score 42-0, then after a third defensive score by Lincoln the score went to 48-0. The Ram backup players didn’t fair well against the Railsplitter’s mix of ones and twos. With under a minute to go, with much of the starting line, the starting QB and starting running back in the game, Lincoln went no huddle trying to score one more touchdown, Mercifully they were not successful and the game ended 48-0.
