Dunmore, Riverside add 4 players to the 2023 PA Writers Class 2A All-State Team

A competitive rivalry in District 2 added 4 players onto the 2023 PA Writers Class 2A All-State team. The Dunmore Bucks had 3 players make the team and the Riverside Vikings added another after standout 2023 seasons from both teams.

For the Vikings, it was none other than #4 Senior WR Reese Gaughan who made the squad. Gaughan, who became the Lackawanna Conference all-time leading receiver this past season, rushed for 700 yards and added 872 receiving yards while also throwing for another 390 yards and accounted for 29 total TD’s.

The Bucks were led by do-it-all athlete #2 Senior Danny Pigga. The Dunmore standout ran for 1752 yards and had 26 total TD’s on the year.  Pigga was also a terrific 2-way player who made some huge plays at DB, and contributed heavily on special teams as well.

Dunmore also had #7 Senior DL Chris Conte make the squad. Conte was a key contributor all year on both sides of the ball, but shined particularly bright on defense as he was a stout defender against the run.  Additionally making the team for the Bucks was #33 Senior LB Nick DonVito. This young man contributed heavily on defense, leading “the Herd of Bucks” on many stops all year.
