With heavy rain and thunderstorms expected in the area, many wondered whether this game would happen. It did go on as scheduled, and Pocono Mountain East came ready to avenge a lopsided loss to Scranton last season as they shut out the Knights 45-0 in an impressive display on both sides of the ball.
The Cardinals had 3 players with multiple scores — RB Amari Green ran for over 200 yards and scored twice, WR Justin Williams had a receiving TD and a rushing TD, and FB Connor Triano equaled that feat later in the game as well. Scranton had a few chances to get back into the game, but an early fumbled snap gave the ball to Pocono Mountain East and a drive near the end of the first half ended with an interception deep in Cardinal territory.
There were several drives by Scranton that showed promise, but turnovers forced by the Cardinal defense kept the Knights off the board. The rain was also a factor early as it slowed both teams down a bit, but as the rain ended near the end the of 1st quarter, the Cardinals gained the momentum and opened the scoring and never looked back.
Pocono Mountain East improved to 3-0 and will face Allentown Central Catholic next week, while Scranton dropped to 1-2 and heads back home to play against West Scranton in the Bell Game.
