Anneville-Cleona Head Coach Matt Gingrich says “Darrian is our middle linebacker, and does a great job filling all holes & running to the ball. On offense he is a punishing blocker, who also does well when asked to catch the ball. Darrian is a great kid to have in the program”.

LET’S GET TO KNOW DARRIAN

Why do you play football?

I play football because of my father. I just want to make him proud.

What is your current GPA?

My current GPA is 3.35

What do you plan to major in college?

Biology

What is your favorite class?

Any science class

Favorite all-time athlete & why?

Zach Ertz because he’s the guy who first got me into football and made me want to watch and play the game.

Favorite moment thus far of your HS career?

A 45-yard interception returned for a touchdown that was tipped. It was my first and only career touchdown.

What was the 2022 season like for you?

The 2022 season while it was pretty good for me statistically, was honestly a disappointment. Falling short the way we did was unacceptable.

2023 individual & team goals?

From week to week the goal is always going to be to win the next game. The stats are nice and all but I couldn’t care less about them as long as the team is winning.

What was your favorite all-time game to watch?

As an Eagles fan I have to say their Super Bowl win. It was a good game to watch regardless, and it was special for a lot of fans including myself.

Favorite meal?

My favorite meal is anything with potatoes, whether it’s mash potatoes or hashbrowns or anything like that. You can’t go wrong with meat and potatoes.

What’s your favorite play to run?

I wouldn’t say I have a favorite play but really, it’s anything where i get a shot to double team with someone. There’s really something special about a successful double team to me.

Hobbies outside of sports?

I love hanging out with friends and family. I also love doing stuff for my community and participating in events.

What’s your greatest fear?

Pertaining to football and spots in general I would say my greatest fear is not being good enough. Anything short of winning isn’t good enough and even when I’m winning there’s still an expectation that has yet to be fulfilled.

Who is the most influential person in your life?

My high school HC Coach Gingrich. He has a way of unlocking a new motivation in people and when those people are willing to learn and get better he can elevate them to heights they wouldn’t be able to reach on their own.

Favorite pre-game music?

I’ve never been one for pregame music. It just isn’t my thing. I’ll listen to whatever is on when the team is warming up.

Who is your favorite teammate?

My best teammate would definitely be Damien Miller. He’s practically a brother to me and he’s such an incredibly selfish player and person. He’s a great guy off the field and he plays with intensity and determination.

Did you play little league football? If so for what organization?

I didn’t play little league football; in fact, I didn’t play any organized football until my 7th grade year.

What should people know about AC this upcoming season?

As a whole, the team isn’t going to accept last year as good enough. We’re looking to get back and pick up where we left off and get over the hill this time.

If you could meet anyone famous dead or alive who would it be and why?

For me I would love to meet one of the great quarterbacks of NFL history. Just to be able to sit down and absorb as much information as possible as to what made them great and the things, they saw that were able to set them apart from others would be amazing as a player.
