District 3 Notes for York & Adams Counties
York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division II action:

As the number 2 seed in the District 3 Class AAA Playoff picture the Bulldogs of West York (10-2 overall, 6-0 league) hosted the number 7 seed Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 2 Eagles of Cocalico (9-3 overall, 5-2 league) in the quarterfinals and were defeated 28-18. The Eagles will host the number 14 seed Berks Inter-County Section 1 Blazers of Daniel Boone (8-4 overall, 3-3 league) at 7PM on November 21. in the semifinals. Hunter High led the Eagles rushing attack with 167-yards (including touchdowns of 2 and 23-yards), followed by Devon DelPiano with 44, D.J. Fabiani with 41 (including a 4-yard touchdown), Brandon Brubaker with 5-yards, and Brady Sawyer with minus 6-yards. Quarterback Sawyer completed 2 of 4 passes for 63-yards to DelPiano (including a 44-yard touchdown). Matt McKinney kicked 2 extra points and High ran in for a 2-point conversion for the Eagles. Stanley Ross Campbell led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 154-yards (including touchdowns of 5 and 5-yards), followed by Garrett Stauffer with 43, Cadence Thomas with 26, and Brett Kinneman with 5-yards (including a 3-yard touchdown). Quarterback Campbell completed 7 of 24 passes for 118-yards, 4 for 79-yards to Terry Cains, 2 for 28-yards to Cash Gladfelter, and 1 for 11-yards to Ryan Narber, for the Bulldogs. Mike Messersmith recovered a fumble, Kinneman recovered a fumble, and Noah Townsley blocked an extra point attempt, for the Bulldogs. Campbell ended his season completing 79 of 164 passes for 1,681-yards and 11 touchdowns and rushing for 1,474-yards and 26 touchdowns for the Bulldogs.

York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division III action:

As the number 2 seed in the District 3 Class AA Playoff picture the Eagles of Bermudian Springs, (11-1 overall, 7-0 league) hosted the number 3 seed Berks Inter-County Section 2 Spartans of Wyomissing (11-1 overall, 5-1 league) in the semifinals and were defeated 26-7. The Spartans will face the number 1 seed Berks Inter-County Section 2 Saints of Berks Catholic in the championship game at Hersheypark Stadium at 6PM on November 22. Thomas Paolini led the Spartans rushing attack with 69-yards (including a 28-yard touchdown), followed by Pete Geyer with 59 (including touchdowns of 2 and 7-yards), Samuel Weaver with 24, Scott Kuczala with 10, Caleb Naylor with 8, Brandon Westwood with 4, Brandon Workman with 4-yards, and Christian Martir with 1-yard. Quarterback Kuczala completed 5 of 6 passes for 122-yards and 1 touchdown, 2 for 87-yards to Paolini (including a 75-yard touchdown), 1 for 24-yards to Brian Walters, 1 for 18-yards to Geyer, and 1 for minus 7-yards to Liam Reedy, for the Spartans. Conner Mendel kicked 2 extra points and Paolini intercepted a pass for the Spartans. Colton Dull led the Eagles rushing attack with 115-yards, followed by Ryan Markle with 72 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Briton Shelton with 54-yards, Michael Ogle with 1-yard, and Phoenix Russell with no-yards. Quarterback Markle completed 8 of 17 passes for 106-yards, 2 for 38-yards to Russell, 3 for 27-yards to Wyatt Gearhart, 1 for 27-yards to Brady Myers, 1 for 8-yards to Shelton, and 1 for 6-yards to Dull, for the Eagles. Connor Zahm kicked 1 extra point for the Eagles. Ryan Markle ended his season completing 52 0f 107 passes for 1,88-yards and 10 touchdowns. Colton Dull ended his season rushing for 1,466-yards and 22 touchdowns, and Briton Shelton ended his season rushing for 1,198-yards and 14 touchdowns, for the Eagles.

As the number 2 seed in the District 3 Class A Playoff picture the Fighting Irish of York Catholic (8-3 overall, 6-1 league) hosted the number 3 seed Mid-Penn Capital Division Steamrollers of Steelton-Highspire (5-6 overall, 4-3 league) in the first round and won 23-8. The Fighting Irish will face the number 1 seed Mid-Penn Capital Division Lions of Camp Hill (9-2 overall, 5-2 league) in the championship game at Hersheypark Stadium at noon on November 22. Hakeem Kinard led the Fighting Irish rushing attack with 87-yards (including touchdowns of 24 and 36-yards), followed by Greg Bennett with 39, Jack Burnside with 11, Luke Brennan with 6, Jakkar Kinard with 4-yards, Qua’Shawn Grooms with minus 6-yards. Quarterback Hakeem Kinard completed 4 of 11 passes for 94-yards and 1 touchdown, 1 for 60-yards and a touchdown to Joe Bauhof, 2 for 19-yards to Grooms, and 1 for 15-yards to Dan Yokemick, for the Fighting Irish. Brennan kicked 3 extra points Sean Lamont and Grooms recorded a safety by tackling the quarterback Jaki Bowman in the end zone, and Scott Bartkowiak intercepted a pass, for the Fighting Irish. So far, Hakeem Kinard has completed 104 of 210 passes for 1,606-ysrds and 17 touchdowns, and has rushed for 1,436-yards and 14 touchdowns, for the Fighting Irish. Shaheim Moody-Williams led the Steamrollers rushing attack with 66-yards, followed by Tyquan Walker with 42-yards, Jaki Bowman with 1-yard (including a 5-yard touchdown), and Quentin Taylor-Porter with minus 9-yards. Quarterback Bowman completed 7 of 14 passes for 66-yards, 5 for 35-yards to Taylor-Porter and 2 for 31-yards to Walker, for the Steamrollers. Bowman threw a 2-point conversion pass to Jaron Grayer for the Steamrollers.

As the number 4 seed in the District 3 Class A Playoff picture the Squires of Delone Catholic (6-5 overall, 5-2 league) visited the number 1 seed Mid-Penn Capital Division Lions of Camp Hill (9-2 overall, 5-2 league) in the first round and were shutout 17-0. The Lions will face the number 2 seed Fighting Irish of York Catholic (8-3 overall, 6-1 league) in the championship game at Hersheypark Stadium at noon on November 22. Bill Williams led the Lions rushing attack with 72-yards, followed by Kyle Remig with 8, DeShawn Franklin with 6-yards, and Michael Shuster with minus 4-yards. Quarterback Shuster completed 15 of 22 passes for 201-yards and 2 touchdowns, 7 for 76-yards to Hope, 3 for 74-yards to Williams (including touchdowns of 36 and 21-yards), 4 for 45-yards to Zack Kuntz, and 1 for 6-yards to Logan Vallati, for the Lions. Alex Gallaher kicked a 32-yard field goal and 2 extra points, Hope intercepted a pass in the end zone and recovered a fumble, Luca Colestock recovered a fumble, and Corey Becker and John Paul Kimport each intercepted a pass for the Lions. Sean Sneeringer led the Squires rushing attack with 62-yards, followed by Tavian Dorsey with 50, Tyler Loucks with 10, Alex Little with 2-yards, and Brian Shermeyer with minus 4-yards. Quarterback Shermeyer completed 4 of 14 passes for 36-yards, 2 for 21-yards to Brandon Zumbrum and 2 for 15-yards to Larry Lefler, and quarterback Jake Wiles completed 1 pass for 8-yards to Jacob Smith, for the Squires. Smith recovered a fumble for the Squires.

Mid-Penn Conference action

As the number 5 seed in the District 3 Class AAA Playoff picture the Mid-Penn Keystone Division’s Patriots of Red Land (9-3 overall, 3-3 league) hosted the number 13 seed Berks Inter-County Section 1 Scouts of Conrad Weiser (7-5 overall, 3-3 league) in the quarterfinals and won 42-21. The Patriots will visit the number 1 seed Mid-Penn Keystone Division Crusaders of Bishop McDevitt (12-0 overall, 6-0 league) at 1PM on November 22 in the semifinals.

Garrett Scott led the Patriots rushing attack with 138-yards (including touchdowns of 16 and 20-yards), followed by Phil Overton with 97, Justin Johnson with 55 (including touchdowns of 9 and 2-yards), Hunter Briner with 13, and Jordan Wheldon with 9-yards. Quarterback Scott completed 9 of 14 passes for 89-yards and 2 touchdowns, 3 for 24-yards to Overton (including a 19-yard touchdown), 2 for 22-yards to Tyler Hodges with 2 for 22-yards (including a 16-yard touchdown), 2 for 22-yards to Briner, 1 for 16-yards to Chris Bigger, and 1 for 5-yards to Kyle Mowery, for the Patriots. Stoudt kicked 6 extra points, Briner recovered a surprise onside kick, and Jake Rollman recovered a fumble for the Patriots. So far Garrett Scott has completed 94 of 156 passes for 1,061-yards and 13 touchdowns, and Phil Overton has rushed for 1,49-yards and 24 touchdowns, for the Patriots. Alex Guilbe led the Scouts rushing attack with 127-yards (including a 24-yard touchdown), followed by Tyler Hoss with 18 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Billy Price with 14, and Koran Jordan with 5-yards. Quarterback Hoss completed 5 of 13 passes for 33-yards and 1 touchdown, 1 for 17-yards to Jordan, 2 for 10-yards to Ober, 1 for 7-yards and a touchdown to Guilbe, and 1 for minus 1-yard to Pierce Broscious, for the Scouts. Jake Roth kicked 3 extra points for the Scouts.
