Why do you play football?

Darin: I play football to hopefully help me with my education after high school.

What has been your best memory from football so far?

Darin: Best football memory would have to be showing up to 7v7 last year after taking a year off from football. I didn’t come to any offseason workouts because I didn’t know if I was playing. I showed up to equipment handout and there was a 7v7 that day. Coach Thomas convinced me to stay and I played. We were in the huddle to start the game and coach asked me “can you catch.” I just smiled at him and went out on the field. I caught 6 TDs that day and asked him if that answered his question.

Who is your favorite pro athlete and why?

Darin: Dez Bryant. Biggest showman you’ll see in the NFL but when it’s time to play he’s the hardest working player on the field.

Who is your biggest fan and why?

Darin: My parents are definitely my biggest fans no question about that. My mom is behind the scenes more than my dad. I always tell her to go get a job that she’d love to do but she works where she does so she can come to my games. She won’t miss a single one. My dad, every time after a game, we talk about all of the bad things before the good. It truly shows how much he cares to make me a better player than just boost my self-esteem when some things aren’t true.

Is there any specific person you look up to and use as a role model?

Darin: God. There’s no other person that comes before him. He’s given me all of my ability’s as an athlete and as a person and I always put God first.

What is your desired major in college?

Darin: Exercise science

What are some team goals for this upcoming season?

Darin: Well, our first team goal is just to have a season. We can achieve anything else if we don’t. But everyone wants a District Title. It’s one of the best feelings in the world.

How has COVID-19 affected you?

Darin: It has affected me to work harder than I used to. Preparing for something that might not come is a hard thing but you have to put your mind to it and dedicate yourself.

Favorite play to run?

Darin: Favorite play to run as a WR would have to be a post. As a QB it’s probably heavy formation under center. I get to see everything unfold in front of me and celebrate once we score.

What is your personal goal for this season?

Darin: A personal goal for me this season is to take charge of our offense and get everyone included. I wouldn’t mind breaking a couple of Troha’s single-season records either.

Favorite pre-game meal?

Darin: For pre-game, I usually have 4 Sheetz hot dogs with a bottle of white milk. Then a bottle of chocolate milk at halftime.

Sports movie?

Darin: The Blindside would have to be my favorite. A classic movie with an underdog.

Sport you’d love to play but can’t?

Darin: I’d love to be able to golf. I’m only good at mini-golf, not the real thing.

Is a hot dog a sandwich?

Darin: No not a sandwich. It wouldn’t taste good if I loaded it with 8 different meats and cheeses.

Favorite activities?

Darin: Some of my favorite activities would be pickup basketball and I love to collect football cards.
