Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders

PIAA District 6 – Class A
League: Laurel Highlands League
Head Coach: Justin Wheeler

Overview: The Marauders are looking for their fourth state championship since 2014 in class A. BG is having an “off-year” with four losses, all to 2A schools. Bishop Guilfoyle’s biggest advantage is playoff experience, they are always going deep into the playoffs and have been here before. The Marauders played only two games this year that were decided by less than 13 points, they were 2-0 in those games.

How they got to Hershey:

Key players/Stats:
Offense: Karson Keisewetter-QB (1803 Passing, 987 Rushing);
Cooper Roth-RB (806 Rushing, 595 Receiving on 45 Receptions)
Defense: Dominic Yanoshak-LB (114 tackles, 2pd, 2fr);
Colin Butler-DT (114 tackles); Drew Abraham-LB (104 tackles, 2ff, int, sack);
PJ Pollock Jr-DE (102 Tackles, 7.5 sacks)
Special Teams: Deven Wyand-K/P (KO-24 TB, 42.8 punt avg, 41 of 42 xp, 7 FG)

Offensive keys to winning: Junior quarterback Karson Keisewetter is the key on offense. Keisewetter completed 63% of his passes and is the teams leading rusher in a well balanced offense. The Marauders need to limit their turnover and use special teams ace Deven Wyandt to control the field position. Junior back Cooper Roth is the other main weapon on offense. He led the team in receptions and receiving yards as well as being the teams number two rusher. BG likes to run behind Colin Butler, a two-way lineman who has 20 pancake blocks. Keisewetter(21) and Roth(10) accounted for 31 of their 36 rushing touchdowns.

Defensive Keys to winning: The Marauders just need to limit the big plays. Bishop Guilfoyle has been winning without taking the ball away a lot. The Bulldogs will need to maintain a balanced offense to have a chance. BG knows it will probably gain 10-20 yards per possession just due to their special teams advantage. The defense has a wealth of play makers with nine players having either an interception or a fumble recovery.
