John Loose, Mike Viti, Jeff Monken and company have really stepped up their recruiting game in PA. And it’s working for both the Black Knights and the USA. In the class of 22 they landed six PA players and now this year already they’ve landed Parkland’s Trey Tremba, Richland ath Evan McCracken, SJP ath Nick McGlynn and now Trinity lineman Braeden Helmkamp are heading to West Point when their senior years end.  Braeden is the latest and announced his decidion on twitter tonight.

PFN: Why did you choose to commit to Black Knights before your senior season?

They were an option that stood out to me and not just the program but the academy itself gives its students amazing opportunities to be very successful.

PFN: Who was your biggest influence there, who recruited you?

Coach Mike Viti

PFN: What are they getting in player like you?

They are getting a guy that will give them 100% everyday and do everything that is asked of him.

PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?

It was a shock it started early in January/February of this year then was quiet until the end of April and into may when it just exploded and I was talking to multiple coaches a day.

PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?

I would like to study Kinesiology (study of movement of the human body)

PFN: What role did your parents play in your decision?

My parents played a large role they made sure to keep me level headed and to consider every factor of every school

PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the program?

The opportunity to play with the brotherhood and go out against big name schools

What else would you like to know about Braeden? You will find more about the future cadet HERE

PFN: What are you most looking forward to while playing for them?

Getting to play in the famous Army Navy game

PFN: Tell everyone out there in the football world something they’d never know about you until you told them:

I didn’t want to play football at first my parents had to convince me and once I started I never looked back.

PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career?

My d-line Coach, Coach Smith he is very persistent and doesn’t take I can’t or no for an answer and is always full of energy and hustle when it is hard

Why do you play football?

I play football for the love of the game and being able to play with my boys

What would you do to improve the recruiting process?

Have it focus less on the unnecessaries such as NIL and more on the program itself and how they will get you to be successful, they should have to persuade people with gear or anything like that.

PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school teammates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?

They were all a large part of it where they know it or not. I know I have always had support from everyone around me and I can’t be more thankful for them.
