Coach says “Lucas played in just about every minute of every game as a freshman last season and became one of the top receivers in all of District 2. He is a hard working, gifted athlete who has a nose for the ball and tremendous instincts that you just can’t coach. In addition to being a starting receiver on offense, Lucas also started at defensive back and was the kick and punt returner for the Patriots.”
LET’S GET TO KNOW LUCAS!
What made you decide to play football?
It runs in my family. My dad, my cousins….we’ve all played football. Flag football, touch football, you name it. So when I got to 7th grade I went out for football.
Do you have a favorite pre-game meal?
Usually a chicken patty sandwich and pasta….and right before the game a banana and sometimes a Snickers bar.
Who has been the most influential person in your athletic career?
My parents, my sister and all of my coaches. They push me to get better and are always on me to do well.
What are your personal and team goals for this upcoming season?
Every year, we are trying to improve….me and the team. This year I want to grow and improve myself, and get better chemistry with all of my teammates. As far as the team, last year we went 5-5 and we definitely feel we can improve.
What are your future plans?
I definitely want to continue in sports in college. There are several state troopers in my family, so maybe that, but I’m thinking also about being a teacher and a coach as well.
When you graduate, what is one lasting memory you will have about your coach?
I will remember the way they pushed me to do better, to be a better person and to do the best I can, as a person and as part of the team.
