Outlook

In 2024, it was a rebuilding year for the Knights. Despite going 4-6 in the regular season, the Knights, who were the third smallest single high school in the district, competed in the” AA” region 3, and were competitive in all of their games. Five of their ten regular-season contests were against teams in a higher classification, with two of their single games against powerhouses Reynolds and Greenville. Young players, particularly in the skill positions, stepped up and developed into what could be one of the best backfield nuclei in District 10 in 2025.

Eisenhower combined with Youngsville High School, and with it, injected a new group of experienced ball players who played at Warren High School the last couple of years. Add to that, Eisenhower is expected to bring back most of their starters, particularly in the skill positions, making the camp exciting with the level of competition for starting jobs. Eisenhower, which had a tiny roster last year, now looks to be in the mid-30s for participation. Offense – Return 12 Starters

As always, Eisenhower was one of the top running games in the region, led by quarterback Caleb Jakubczak and running back Logan Penley. The pair ran for nearly 1000 yards each and were the two most explosive players in the return game. Juniors Nolan Gesing and Joe Gigliotti showed their value as explosive ball carriers and outstanding blockers. Tanner Lookenhouse led the team in touchdown receptions, and Gavin Lindemuth was an exceptional blocker and threat as a receiver. Multiple new ballplayers from Youngsville have shown explosive athletic ability while learning the playbook and will be vying for starting jobs in camp.

The team will only go as far as their line, and the 2025 line looks to have tremendous competition for starting jobs and quite a bit of returning experience. Bryce Coleson and Grayson Linkerhof have two years of starting experience each, as Carson Sobkowski and Jacob Stuart also return as starters from 2024. Kaleb Hadfield looks to make the transition from skill player to the offensive line, and Dunn, Bennett, and VanGelder look to use their physical size to earn a starting opportunity.

The Knights’ defense took a step back last year, but looks to rebound with an exceptionally experienced group of players. The defensive front boasts solid size and is very athletic. Lindemuth was a beast and first team All-Star at defensive end, pairing now with 5A All-Star Linkerhof, and rounded out by 2024 starters Stuart and Sobkowski. The line has plenty of competitive depth vying for time behind the front 4.

The linebackers are led by two first-team All Stars in Penley and Coleson, while adding second-team All-Star defensive back Nolan Gesing as he transitions from DB to LB.

The one group that looks to be the strength of the team has to be the secondary, returning six players who were starters on their teams in 2024. They are led by Jakubczak, who tied the school record with eight interceptions in a season in 2024. He is flanked by two of the best corners with Lookenhouse (who only gave up one reception in ’24 and EHS’s top corner) and 5A All-Star Hammerbeck, the other corner. Gigliotti, the steady playmaker, strong safety, with Lindberg, Boozer, McCaslin, and Haight all part of an experienced 8-player rotation for the Knights.

We have a few keys that are important for us to push to contend for the D10 2A title

Coach Comments

“The 1st key position that needs to step up for us is the QB position. This is the 2nd year starting for our QB, Everett Cotterill, and we are expecting tremendous growth from last year. We return Vinnie Feliciano as well as 3 of our top WRs, as well as five offensive linemen. We need Everett to expand his production.

The 2nd key position that needs to step up is our defensive unit. We played sound defense last season, and with 10 returning starters, we expect them to be an elite defensive group. We need to play physical, disciplined football. We need to do a good job on 1st down as well as on those 3rd & long situations, and we must play well enough to create three-and-outs. With nine defensive starters, the experience is there to have a good defensive team.

The 3rd key position that needs to step up is in our kicking game. We lost two all-region kickers, so replacing them is no easy task; however, we have good, young athletes, and we are excited to watch them continue to compete during camp.

If we can solidify those areas, we expect to have a competitive season.”

Northwestern Wildcats

2025 Schedule

Head Coach: Ben Fennell

Brody Bickenhouser (AP), Braden Swift (QB), Reese Gonzales (WR), Connor Kranz (DL)

Outlook

Under the direction of first-year head coach Ben Fennell, the Wildcats will look to improve on their 3-7 record from 2024. Northwestern’s offense should see improvement as Braden Swift comes back to run the offense after passing for 1,052 yards and 11 touchdowns. Top receiver Reese Gonzales caught 17 passes for 396 yards and five touchdowns, while leading rusher Brody Bickenhouser returns to the backfield after rushing for 655 yards and three touchdowns.

Seneca returns several starters from an 8-3 campaign last season. Quarterback Rylan Harwood rushed for 1,055 yards and 18 touchdowns while passing for 453 yards and three scores. Zach Moats ran for 811 yards and 11 touchdowns as a freshman in 2024. Dominic Buscemi caught 31 passes for 454 yards and five touchdowns.

Sharpsville Blue Devils

2025 Schedule

Head Coach: Paul Piccirilli

Key Players Returning

Rylan Piccirilli (K), Geno Currie (RB, LB), Will Vogan (DB), Brady Gerlach (DB)

Outlook

Sharpsville enters 2025 after advancing to the District 10 final last season, dramatically over Mercyhurst Prep before falling to Farrell in the title game. The Blue Devils boast sophomore tailback Geno Currie, who rushed for 1,014 yards and a team-high 19 touchdowns as a freshman. If they’re going to again contend for a title, they’ll need to replace five All-Region 1 first-team players from a season ago.
