District 1 Power Rankings- Week 1 & 2

1. Coatesville- Coach Matt Ortega’s Red Raiders are off to a fast 2-0 start defeating Pennsbury and Academy Park by a combined score of 77-7. The Red Raiders have won outright or shared 7 consecutive ChesMont titles, with Ricky Ortega as QB for the first 4 titles, now it’s his younger brother Buggy’s turn to take the reins of the Coatesville offense. Friday night they travel to Harrisburg to take on Central Dauphin.

2.Central Bucks West- The Bucks are on a revenge tour. In week 1 they beat Garnet Valley 17-13, who beat them last year in the District Championship game 35-7. In week 2 the Bucks beat 5A Upper Dublin 37-7, who beat them in week 2 last season 35-7. In their first two games they have rushed for over 525 yards. Week 3 pits them against 1-1 Quakertown.

3.Downingtown West- After a slow start against Lincoln High in Philly , the Whippets took it to Perk Valley 35-14 in week 1. Returning QB Quinn Henicle is at the controls of one of the most dangerous offenses in the state, throwing for nearly 300 yards against Perk Valley.

4. Downingtown East- The Cougars fresh off a two point victory, against the formerly #4 PFN ranked team State College, hold down the fourth spot in the PFN D1 poll. Downingtown using their punishing power running game and a hard hitting quick defense are off to a 2-0 start.

5. Spring-Ford- Coach Chad Brubaker Ram’s have begun the season on an offensive tear scoring 87 points in the first two games, defeating Governor Mifflin and Father Judge. Junior QB Matt Zollers has thrown for 529 yards and 8 TDs in his first two games, surpassing 3,000 yards in career passing.

6. Garnet Valley- The Jaguars lost a tough one to Central Bucks West 17-13 in Week 1. They bounced back in week 2, when the defeated Ridley  42-28. Ronnie Leraris Rushed for 229 yards & 5 TDs in the victory. The Jags take on 2-0 Penncrest this week.

7. Quakertown-Week 1, the Panthers lost to state ranked 5A Southern Lehigh 21-28. Week 2 the Panthers ended a 44-year winless drought, after beating North Penn 38-17. Vince Micucci threw for 200 yards & 5 TDs in the victory. This week they have a huge matchup against Central Bucks West.

8. West Chester Rustin- The Golden Knights had a scrimmage week zero, then defeated West Chester Henderson Friday night  in a shootout 49-35.  They will take on West Chester East this week, as their backyard tour continues.

9. Pope John Paul II-The Panthers have put up 67 points on offense in the first two games and have only yielded 7 points on defense.   In last weeks victory Junior QB Luke Terlesky threw for 221 yards & 3 TDs. They play 1-1 Berks Catholic this week.

10. Perkiomen Valley- The Vikings are 1-1 after shutting out Chester 31-0 then losing to  Downingtown West 35-14. This week they face an 0-1 Smyrna team from the State of Delaware.
