The Elizabeth Forward Warriors dominated on both sides of the ball Friday night, defeating Southmoreland Scotties 42–0 in a one-sided Class 3A matchup.
Quarterback Ryan Messina led the charge for the Warriors, rushing for 189 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries while also completing 15 passes for 164 yards on 20 attempts. Messina connected with Brendan Stroschein, who caught four passes for 69 yards, and Landon Honick, who added five catches for 45 yards.
Rocco Thompson got Elizabeth Forward on the board early with a pair of short touchdown runs in the first half, both followed by successful extra points from Luke Holdren. Messina extended the lead with a 47-yard touchdown run before halftime as the Warriors carried a 19–0 advantage into the break.
Elizabeth Forward continued to pour it on in the second half as Messina found the end zone twice more, including a 15-yard run and another from two yards out, while Geo Thompson capped the scoring with a two-yard touchdown plunge.
The Warriors’ defense was equally impressive, holding South Moreland scoreless and controlling the line of scrimmage from start to finish.
Elizabeth Forward improves to 8-1 (4-0) and will host Mt. Pleasant while Southmoreland drops to 8-1 (3-1) as Greensburg Salem comes to town.
