Nativity BVM scored early and often against a Holy Redeemer squad that is looking to gain some confidence and momentum early this season. The Green Wave had a 22-0 lead at halftime and invoked the mercy rule in the 3rd quarter to shut out the Royals 36-0 at Spartan Stadium in Kingston, PA.
Green Wave QB Colt Mason made only 1 mistake in the game: an interception deep in Holy Redeemer territory late in the 2nd quarter. Aside from that, he had 2 rushing TD’s and ripped off several more big runs in leading his squad to victory. The Nativity BVM defense also came up big, racking up a safety in the 2nd quarter and a pick-6 in the 3rd quarter to do their part in the shutout win.
Holy Redeemer QB Noah Council was injured late in the 2nd quarter, and Sophomore QB Brady McDermott was forced into action. McDermott played well, but the Green Wave defense came to play and caused issues for the Royals all night.
Nativity BVM now heads on the road again to face Pine Grove, while Holy Redeemer looks to get back on track at Tunkhannock.
