North Allegheny and Central Catholic players and coach get spots on PA Sportswriters Class 6A All-State Team

Logan Kushner, Peyton Wehner, Pete Gonzalez, Jack Yatchenko, Anthony Speca, Cole Sullivan, and Tyree Alualu  were all the WPIAL players named to the PA Sportswriters Class 6A All-State Team

All seven WPIAL players that are on the All-State team come from Pittsburgh Central Catholic and North Allegheny. Art Walker the 6A Coach of the Year also comes from North Allegheny as well. 

Walker led the Tigers to a second straight 6A WPIAL Championship and a runner-up at the 6A PIAA State Championship. In that time span the Tigers are 24-4 overall. 

Kushner, the starting QB for North Allegheny, this season threw for 1,820+ passing yards and threw 24 TDs along with rushing for 1,430+ rushing yards and 22+ TDs. Kushner currently has offers from Davidson, Dayton, Robert Morris, and Valparaiso. 

Yatchenko is a two-time all-conference offensive lineman and helped the Tigers rush for 4,000+ yards this season. On the defensive side of the ball, Yatchenko on the defensive side of the ball had 42 tackles, 11 of which came for a loss. 

Alualu, a RB/LB for the Tigers and a three-time all-conference selection. This year had over 1,000+ total yards and 16 total TDs. 

Central Catholic has four players on this year’s All-State Team. 

Wehner, the QB for the Vikings and Saint Francis commit, threw for 2,900+ yards, and 36 TDs. Wehner also finished the season ranking 13th all-time on the passing list with 6,956 yards. 

Pete Gonzalez, WR and Penn State commit, caught 47+ passes, 1,000+ yards and 12 TDs. 

Sullivan and Speca, both LBs for the Vikings, made the list. 

Sullivan had 76 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries on the season. 

Speca was a four-year starter, becoming the all-time leading tackler in Central Catholic program history. This season he had 90 tackles, 17 of which for a loss and also had five sacks.
