North Pocono played solid defense yet again and held Valley View to a field goal for almost 3 full quarters, and the Trojans defeated the Cougars 42-10 at John Henzes Veterans Memorial Stadium.  North Pocono WR/DB Cole West had a kickoff return TD and 2 interceptions, including a pick-6, and RB Josiah Gray had 2 rushing TD’s.

Valley View got things going early when an great opening kickoff return by WR Gabe Davis gave them great field position, and the Cougars drove inside the Trojan 15.  K Braden Loff was able to cap the drive when he connected on a 30-yard field goal to make it 3-0 for Valley View early in the 1st quarter.

Both defense then flexed their muscles a bit, with the Cougars stopping North Pocono on a 4th-and-3 inside the Valley View 20.  The Trojan defense then stopped the Cougars for a loss on 4th down deep in North Pocono territory, and the Trojans capitalized when RB Josiah Gray scored on a 6-yard run to make it 7-3 North Pocono with 6:53 left in the 1st half.

North Pocono never looked back from there.  On Valley View’s next drive, Trojan DB Cole West read the play perfectly and intercepted the ball and returned it for a score to put North Pocono up 14-3 late in the 2nd quarter.  Then, on the opening kickoff of the 2nd half, West returned the kickoff 85 yards for a score to make it 21-3 North Pocono.  The Trojan defense made another stop, then it was Josiah Gray again scoring on a 10-yard run to make it 28-3 with 6:53 left in the 3rd quarter.  After another stop by the North Pocono defense, QB Chase Zimmerman scored on a 1-yard dive to make it 35-3 Trojans late in the 3rd quarter.

Valley View then got back on the board as QB Caleb Brown hit WR Colin Witkowski on a 13-yard score to make it 35-10 with 21 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.  In the 4th quarter, North Pocono RB Clavo Slater capped the scoring when he hit paydirt on a 9-yard run to make it 42-10 with 2:26 left in the game.

North Pocono improved to 7-0 and will head to Scranton next Friday to face the Knights.  Valley View dropped to 4-3 and will look to get back on track up at Delaware Valley next Friday.
