After scoring five unanswered touchdowns, Penn-Trafford rotated through its lineup — and still managed to add on another score.
The 42-0 beat-down featured P-T (4-1, 1-1) dominating Kiski Area (1-3, 0-1), scoring 35 points in the first half and finishing the game on a running clock.

Sophomore quarterback Cody Yacamelli is boosted into the air by Travis Moorhead. Yacamelli scored two touchdowns in Penn-Trafford’s 42-0 win over Kiski on Sept. 20.
Kiski battled through their fourth away game in a row, but quarterback Landyn Artman went out with an injury in the first half, and the Cavaliers struggled to keep up with the Warriors’ momentum.
After suffering a tough Class 5A Big East conference loss last week at Woodland Hills, the P-T Warriors were fired up.
“We flipped the switch at practice. Much more intensity and 27’s back, he’s leading us better than anyone can,” P-T senior Ben Lenart said.
No. 27 is senior captain Jamison Yurt, back after suffering a leg injury from a preseason scrimmage. Yurt, no longer hurt, led the Warriors’ defense as linebacker.
“I’ve built up energy from the past four weeks, and being able to let it loose in one night felt awesome,” Yurt said.
After back-to-back fumbles, one by each team, the Warriors took the ball into the endzone less than two minutes into the game. Junior running back Ben Grabowski rushed 4 yards, setting the Warriors up 7-0.
Penn-Trafford flexed its kicking power, making all extra points with three different kickers. Sophomore Jack Miller kicked the first three, senior Evan Sadler made the next two, followed by junior Logan Hunter kicking the final one.
Kiski, unable to combat the Warriors’ defense, punted on fourth down. P-T did not punt the entire game.

Senior Aven Shirley throws the ball for Kiski Area on September 20. Shirley replaced Landyn Artman, who was injured during the second quarter.
Sophomore quarterback Cody Yacamelli ran in a 4-yard touchdown, boosting the Warriors to 14-0 with six minutes left in the quarter. Yacamelli and senior Nate Desmond switched throughout the game as quarterback.
Early in the second quarter, Kiski sophomore quarterback Artman went out with an injury, forcing senior Aven Shirley to take his place for the remainder of the game. Shirley relied mainly on running back Ashton Taylor, who recorded 18 carries.
P-T’s next score featured a trick play. Senior quarterback Nate Desmond flipped the ball to Nick Ponko, who then threw the ball downfield into the hands of Tyler Boss. Boss ran into the endzone with just over eight minutes left in the half. Miller capped the 74-yard play with the extra point, increasing the Warriors’ lead to 21-0.
On Kiski’s next attempt to score, Lenart intercepted the ball in Cavalier territory. Yacamelli had no problem running the ball in for another touchdown, dominating Kiski 28-0 with six minutes left in the half.

Senior Ben Lenart celebrates with Lucah Butler after Lenart intercepted the ball in the second quarter.
Grabowski squeezed in another score before the half, running four yards to put the Warriors up 35-0.
P-T junior Trent Brown nabbed an interception in the third quarter, eliminating any hope for a Kiski touchdown.
Senior Alex Nicolette scored the last touchdown for the Warriors with 1:27 left in the third quarter. The running back barreled his way downfield before rushing five yards for his first touchdown this season.
“I couldn’t be more thankful for the 10 other people blocking for me, and I’m just going to keep doing my best for the rest of the season,” Nicolette said.
The Warriors began to rotate through their lineup midway through the third quarter, finishing the 42-0 win on a running clock.
“It’s awesome. It’s what we’ve been coming for this whole season. A shut-out win for our boys, and getting those JV boys in second half. We can’t ask for a better game,” Yurt said.
Penn-Trafford will play at Plum next Friday. Kiski will have its first home game in five weeks against Franklin Regional.
“If we play like we played tonight, we’re going to handle [Plum] pretty well,” Yurt said.
