How they got here:
Belmont Charter got their first ever PIAA State playoff win last week with a 36-20 victory over York Catholic.
Lackawanna Trail got the win over previously undefeated Line Mountain 31-20.
A look at the Belmont Charter Tigers:
Head Coach Terrell Brent and the Tigers have some playoff experience for a newer squad: The program has only been in existence for 5 years, and all 5 years they have made the state playoffs. In their win last week over York Catholic, Freshman QB Nafis Watkins threw for 253 yards and 3 scores, with 2 of those going to WR Moise Fleurival. RB Jayden Parsley added 13 carries for 97 yards and a TD. Up front, Mason Walker anchors the line along with Tymir Seamon and Anthony Gillison. The Tigers like to play an up-tempo offense which can be troublesome, and on defense they utilize the blitz with multiple positions getting involved.
A look at the Lackawanna Trail Lions:
Another year, another playoff run for Head Coach Steve Jervis and Lackawanna Trail. The Lions are led by RB Isaac Ryon, who is now the all-time leading rusher for a season in LIAA history with 2,776 rushing yards and 46 rushing TD’s. QB Tyler Jervis is a key contributor on both sides of the ball, and especially when it comes to running the Trail Wing-T offense. On defense Ryon and Jervis play big along with Blake Stage and Kaylix Douglas, who had a key tipped pass leading to a pick-6 in last week’s win over Line Mountain, holding the Eagles to a season low 20 points.
