Pocono Mountain East cruises past Pleasant Valley in D11 Class 5A playoff (VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS)

Pocono Mountain East got 2 early scores and the Cardinal defense pitched a shutout as they defeated Pleasant Valley 27-0 in a District 11 Class 5A playoff matchup. RB Amari Green had 2 TD’s and QB Ceejay Serfass threw for 3 scores.
The Cardinals struck very quickly to take the lead when RB Amari Green scored on a 26-yard run to make it 7-0 with 11:20 left in the 1st quarter. After a quick 3-and-out, a poor punt by Pleasant Valley gave Pocono Mountain East a short field, and they cashed in fast when QB Ceejay Serfass hit Green for a 9-yard score to make it 14-0 Cardinals with 8:23 left in the 1st quarter.
The second quarter was a confusing one as Pleasant Valley made some decent runs on offense only to be shut down again by the Cardinal defense. Pocono Mountain East also made quite a few mistakes in the period as they had 2 touchdowns called back by penalties, and they also had a missed field goal and a blocked field goal. None the less, they were able to cash in right at the end of the half when Serfass threw it to the left corner of the end zone and connected with WR Kevin Davis for a 12-yard score. The PAT was also blocked but the Cardinals had a 20-0 lead at the half.
Pleasant Valley received the 2nd half kickoff but could not get much past midfield. Pocono Mountain East also had several drives in the quarter but could not capitalize. A costly interception stopped the Bears late in the quarter, and as the 4th quarter got underway it Pocono Mountain East hitting paydirt one more time as Serfass connected with TE Connor Triano on a 12-yard TD pass. That made it 27-0 Pocono Mountain East, which ended up being the final score.
Pleasant Valley finished their season at 5-6. Pocono Mountain East improved to 8-3 and will face Whitehall in the District 11 Class 5A championship next Friday.
