Purchase Line plays Mountain of a game against West Shamokin!
Heritage Conference Game of the Week
West Shamokin Wolves(0-2) at Purchase Line Red Dragons (0-2)
Last Meeting 9/8/23 Purchase Line 27-0
Both team came into the game looking for their first wins. Purchase Line opened with two road games against the conference’s two top teams. West Shamokin had to make the long trip to Davidsville and against a physical Comets team at home and has less than 30 players. The Wolves got the ball first and went three and out. The Red Dragons got the ball and went 73 yards in just under four minutes to score the games first points. A nine yard run by Victor Bartlebaugh who had a huge game at running back and out of the Wildcat formation.

The Red Dragon defense had a couple of sacks on the next series stopping the Wolves. Purchase Line would drive 68 yards for a score on their second possession. PL quarterback Ian Layden would hit tight end Jakob Mountain from 21 yards out to run the score to 12-0 as the first quarter came to a close.

In the second quarter the Red Dragons continued to dominate. They had the ball three times. They fumbled at the Wolves 34 which was recovered by Aiden Oesterling. They drove 82 yards , only to be stuffed from the one on fourth down and they had the ball as the half ended. The Wolves had the ball three times and fumbled (recovered by Mountain) and turned it over on fourth down twice. It was only 12-0 at the half.
The Dragons start the third quarter like they ended the first. Two more Layden to Mountain touchdown passes. The Wolves only possession was once again a turnover on downs. As the third quarter ended it was 25-0 PL.

The fourth quarter took 2 days to play. There was five touchdowns, a lot of penalties, a lot backups playing and the Red Dragons being forced to put the starters back in the game to close it out. The Wolves switched quarterbacks and went to freshmen Cole Wingard and he looked real good. He has good moves and can throw. On the Wolves first possession of the quarter, they drove 70 yards and scored on a 30 yard pass from Wingard to Jordan Titus.

Devian Kordish was a linemen last year for PL. This year he is a bruising runner. The Dragons and Kordish took just two minutes and 15 seconds to get the touchdown back.
