2020West CatholicWR

My name is Carl Smith. I’m from Delaware County, PA. I love the game of football because it keeps me busy, out of trouble, and brings an unimaginable joy into my life.

Who is your favorite sports star and why?

Aaron Rodgers because of his ability to lead with actions instead of words. He’s not a very vocal leader but yet a great leader he is, because his actions inspires his teammates to do better and work harder.

Why do you play football?

It keeps me busy and helps me avoid trouble. Without football I’d be lost; it helps me relieve any stress and forget any problems I have in life. I feel like football is my way to success.

If your mom and dad are screaming at you from the stands, what is it they usually yell?

When their not yelling my name; My mom is usually yelling “BLOCK THEMM!” Or “Get him, don’t let them score!” and my father is known for yelling at referees, “Hey ref he’s holding him right there he cant do that!” Or “Thats a bad call ref you need some help out there?”

Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like?

My father is my mentor. He groomed me as an athlete since the age of 4 years old, when I started playing flag football and Rec league basketball. I want to be like him because he’s a great father and he’s a stand up guy who’d do whatever in order to support his family. He was in the Navy for 30 years and since his retirement he’s been hands on in helping my recruitment process.
