It all comes down to this week, as we close out the 2019 high school football regular season in District XI. There are still District playoff spots available as we look ahead to plenty of rivalry games this weekend, while looking back to games played in week nine.

In The Eastern Pennsylvania Conference North, the Northampton Konkrete Kids clinched the division title with a 57-0 thrashing of Pocono Mountain East. The K-Kids first title since 1997 have won nine consecutive games since a opening night loss to Parkland. The Cement Belt Trophy will be on the line Friday night as Northampton will face 0-9 Whitehall.

The EPC South title is still up for grabs as Nazareth (8-1 overall 6-1 EPC South) and Bethlehem Freedom (8-1, 6-1) are leading the way. Parkland (7-2, 5-2) is third and could make some noise in the district playoffs, as the Trojans are getting healthy from early season injuries. Freedom closes out their season with Bethlehem rival Liberty(3-6, 1-6). Freedom jumped out to a 34-17 lead over Allentown Central Catholic Saturday night, but had to hold on for a 34-31 win. Central Catholic had a chance to tie the game in the waning seconds, but a 33 yard field goal failed as the ball struck the upright. Parkland will be in the “Battle of Cedar Crest Blvd” with Emmaus (5-4, 3-4). The Green Hornets upset state ranked 4A power Bethlehem Catholic 27-13 Friday night. The Easton Rovers are reeling, after winning their first six games, have dropped three in a row, including a 27-9 decision to Parkland. Easton will need a win over Nazareth Friday to have a chance to host a district playoff game.

The Colonial League Championship will come down to week ten. Northwestern Lehigh (8-1) needed a late rally to defeat rival Northern Lehigh 28-24. Southern Lehigh (8-1) overwhelmed out-manned Catasauqua Friday night. Northwestern will face Catasauqua, while Southern Lehigh will face a test in up-and-coming Salisbury Twp (6-3)

The other noteworthy game will be the 100th meeting between Pen Argyl and Bangor Saturday morning at Bangor Memorial Park. The Green Knights currently lead the series 50-45-4. Both teams come into the game struggling as Pen Argyl is 3-6 while Bangor is 2-7.

Pottsville will meet North Schuylkill this Friday night in Ashland with the Schuylkill League Division one title on the line. Both teams are 4-0 in the division each or 8-1 overall, with both teams having lost to District III powerhouse Wyomissing.

In District 2, the Dallas Mountaineers (9-0), coming off a big win over Berwick Friday will face rival Lake-Lehman (7-2) in the “Back Mountain Brawl”. The other key game will be a WVC/LFC cross-over game as Northwest Area controls their own destiny for a spot in District 2 Class A playoff spot, if they can get a win at home against Riverside. The Rangers and defending Class A Eastern Champion Lackawanna Trail are battling for the second spot to face Old Forge next week. The Rangers have a win over Trail early in the season. Trail is off this weekend, as they were scheduled to play Holy Cross, who dropped the football program prior to week one.

Other rivalry games will be Nanticoke Area will meet Hanover Area, Pittston will face Wyoming Area.

In 2A, Riverside and Dunmore have clinched a playoff spot. Susquehanna, Mid Valley and Carbondale are battling for the final two spots

In 3A, the field is locked in: Wyoming Area, Western Wayne, Scranton Prep, Lake-Lehman and Hanover Area are all in.

7 of 8 spots are occupied in the 4A, Dallas, Valley View, Berwick, Crestwood, North Pocono, Tunkhannock and Pittston Area are in. The eighth and finl spot will come down to Abington Heights and West Scranton

District 2 and District XI are involved with the 5A sub-regional playoffs: Southern Lehigh and East Stroudsburg South clinched 2 of the 4 spots. Pocono Nountain East (4-5) and Wallenpaupack (3-6). Wyoming Valley West is a long-shot at 2-7.

In the 6A: Del Val, Wilkes-Barre Area and Scranton are in. The fourth seed will go to either Williamsport or Hazleton.
