This Friday night at Mansion Park, the 2022 D6 AA Champion will be crowned.  #4 Seed Bishop Guilfoyle (9-3) will take on #2 Seed Penns Valley (10-2).  Bishop Guilfoyle is ranked # 9 in the state and Penns Valley is ranked as Honorable Mention in the latest Pa Football News rankings.  You can see the rest of the state rankings here:PFN Rankings.  Also, you can check all the updated 2022 PIAA playoff brackets here:

Penns Valley is making it’s first trip back to the D6 AA title game since it lost to Forest Hills 23-6 in 1991.  These two teams have met before, from 1991-2006. Penns Valley has lost the last 6 meetings.

On the other hand, Bishop Guilfoyle has plenty of experience in the D6 title games.  But Bishop Guilfoyle hasn’t played in the class AA title game since they won the crown in 1985 and 1987.  Bishop Guilfoyle won last year’s D6 A championship and then went on to win the PIAA A Sate Championship.  Bishop Guilfoyle has been to 11 total D6 championships winning eight of them.  Bishop Guilfoyle has 3 other State Titles to go with last year’s win.  Bishop Guilfoyle won in 2014,2015, and 2016.

Last Week, Bishop Guilfoyle knocked off the 4x D6 AA champion Richland.  Richland was undefeated going into the game, but Bishop Guilfoyle won 32-22.  Bishop Guilfoyle was led by last year’s PIAA Class A player of the year, Senior QB Karson Kiesewetter.  Kiesewetter was 8-16 for 119 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT during a very windy game.  Kiesewetter also rushed 37 times for 203 yards and 3 TDs.  Senior RB Cooper Rother had 5 receptions for 60 yards.  Junior LB Kaden Wyandt led the Bishop Guilfoyle defense with 13 tackles and 1 sack.  You can read Greg Ricupero’s game recap here: Kiesewetter carries Marauders over Rams.

Penns Valley avenged a mid-September loss when they beat Bald Eagle Area 34-14 last week.  Penns Valley had a big 4th down stop at their 1-yard line to keep the score in their favor 21-14 at the beginning of the 4th quarter and then went on a 99-yard TD drive to end the scoring.  Junior QB Jackson Romig was 16-31 for 170 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT passing and 17-113 yards with 1 TD rushing.  Junior RB Ty Watson rushed 17 times for 117 yards with 1 TD and caught 4 passes for 43 yards.  Senior WR Miles Brocks had 8 receptions for 73 yards.  You can read Billy Splain’s game recap and photo gallery here: Penns Valley advances to D6 2A title game with 34-14 win over BEA, Romig has a big night.
