They’ve been here before. They know the drill. The Quips are looking to repeat as the 4A champs with a second victory in a row over Bishop McDevitt. Last years 34-27 thriller between two young teams has turned into one of this years most anticipated games between to mature teams. The Quips are coming in off a crushing win over Allentown Central Catholic, a game won by defense, turnovers and big plays. Aliquippa is the only team to have ever won a state title in three different classifications. In 1991 and 2003 they won the 2A title, 2018 the 3A title and last years 4A title.

Leading the way for the Quips is Tiqkwai Hayes. We all know the name by now. Hayes has the extra gear coaches pray for in a running back. He’s not huge, but he plays huge. Hayes has run for over 1,500 yards. The key here is when he isn’t carrying the ball. If he’s not, it’s going to be on John Tracy to carry the load. And make no mistake, the Quips don’t miss a beat with him in the backfield. He’s coming off a 2 td performance against ACC last week.

Quentin Goode is the man that will be handing off the ball, or throwing it. Goode is a solid QB who is also a threat to run, but most of the time his job is to get the ball to the RBs or his speedy receivers Brandon Banks and Donovan Walker. Both have breakawy speed. Jayace Williams at tight end is also a great target. Let’s make no mistake though, it’s the following names that make this offense run: Naquan Crowder, Jason McBride, Braylon Wilcox, Neco Eberhardt, Kamari Mathews. It’s a line that sits near the 300 lb mark on average. They can move a defense back 3 yards before the back has the ball.

Defensively the Quips are aggressive enough to chase the QB around all night. Everhardt and company are not only big, they’re fast. Stone Saunders will once again need to make quick decisions or this group will chase him down. Cameron Lindsey is a menace at linebacker and a big time run stopper. Walker, Banks, Hayes and Nate Lindsey-Gill  are not a group you can be slightly off against when throwing the ball. They make you put it right where it needs to be. If not, it’s theirs.
