As the season is about to officially get underway with official practices this week, and games starting the week of August 25th, the Season Rollout Coaches Cookout is in the books!
119 players and coaches were in attendance at the Forge Pub & Eatery in Berwick, interviewed by hosts Joe Gilloway from Linglestown Gazette Sports, Billy Splain of PA Football News and other PFN Staff along with Dave Fegley and David Ackley from Black Diamond Media. We also heard an interview from Jim Doyle.
A great time was had by all the teams in attendance, with lots of food, a 50/50 raffle and a cornhole contest among the fun. The day ended with a very exciting announcement to sub-rename the portion of Mulberry Street by Crispin Field in Berwick to “George Curry Way”, a fantastic way to honor the long-time and legendary Bulldog coach and his contributions in teaching generations of young men about hard work and a sense of community. A beautiful painting of Coach Curry was then unveiled by sports artist Vincent Wood to a round of applause.
The official ceremony to honor Coach Curry, along with a charity auction for an official copy of the painting will be held at Berwick’s Homecoming game in October. Watch for more forthcoming information about this event here on PAFootballNews.com
